May 28, 2025 at 08:50 in reply to: Best Practices for Sharing Encrypted Files with Non-AxCrypt Users? #44172Hello Calvin Kirby,
We have a feature called AxCrypt key sharing.
You can use the AxCrypt key sharing feature to encrypt your file(s), then key shares the file with other recipients/employees/partner or key shared encrypted file to send/share the network/server., If they want to open the received encrypted file then we have to share the file password with them or the files should be key shared with receivers’ email addresses.
There is no need to share passwords in order to send or share files securely with others. AxCrypt has a key sharing feature letting you add recipients by email address, who when they receive the file can open it with their own AxCrypt password.
To see a quick instructional guide and video explaining how to use key sharing https://axcrypt.net/information/guides/keyshare/, please view https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUVWbmiEFSs
Please note: Recipients/Receiver needs to have an AxCrypt app. AxCrypt application and account is mandatory is open the encrypted files. Without AxCrypt app cannot open the file.
Is there a secure, browser-based decryption option? – Currently, AxCrypt doesn’t support a browser-based decryption option.
Should I be encouraging them to install AxCrypt Free just to access the files? – Yes, the recipient just needs a free AxCrypt ID and will be automatically invited via email if necessary. The invitation email contains instructions on how to view and edit the file.
If you have any queries/issues, please write to Support@axcrypt.net. We are happy to help you.

Hello Dugover,
Yes, you can decrypt Axcrypt encrypted files on a different PC or mobile device. If you know the file password(which was used in the file encryption process) to decrypt/open the encrypted file. Otherwise, without file password, nobody to decrypt the encrypted file.
AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.
