For a few months after I installed Bitdefender I kept getting error messages whenever I try to access my files that were encrypted so I decided to turn my axcrypt manager to offline mode. It did solve the issues so I didn’t have to bother with it anymore, but recently when I tried to access to files again and it asked me for a password after a computer restart it tells me I inputted the wrong password.  I’ve never changed the password so I was confused why it was happening. I tried to reset the password through the webpage the app brought me to and the antivirus blocked the website and called it suspicious, which made me extremely confused.

So now, I tried to login from the website and it works just fine, I don’t understand how it works on the website and not on my computer. I’ve selected to switch user on the app which stated it would clear all my data and what appeared next was to update my program. I’ve updated it now and after logging back in with the password, the manager is working in what appears to be normal, but when I tried to access my files it asks me for a password and tells me it is the wrong password again. I’m using the same username so I am confused how my files would end up with different passwords. I have a few important documents that I encrypted that I need to get back.

Replying back to my post, I’ve managed to open back my files again, apparently it wants the original password I encrypted it and not when the universal password I gave it with the new password manager. I’ve managed to resolve the immediate issue, but now I am afraid that if I ever forgot the original password again I would be unable to open it all over again. I will just have to have it placed elsewhere I suppose.
