Hello Chevalier,
AxCrypt is a file encryption software with no backdoor. That means, Nobody can decrypt the encrypted files without the file password used in the file encryption. This is the way AxCrypt app was designed.
Please use AxBruteForce tool to recover the encrypted files.
We have simple software allowing you to try to find password, and you can download the most recent version from https://account.axcrypt.net/Download/AxBruteForce.exe and read of how to use it at https://www.axcrypt.net/axcrypt-brute-force/ . Please note that we cannot provide support beyond this.
Please note: AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.
January 20, 2024 at 08:04 in reply to: I Can't Encrypt a File – Wrong Passowrd, Decrypt Works Fine. #33667Hello JimJam,
Please can you try this? Please check the folder(C:\Users\’User Name’\AppData\Local\AxCrypt). If you found any subfolders inside the AxCrypt folder, take a back up of those folders. Then clean the local cache by the below described way.
Please delete the folder (C:\Users\’User Name’\AppData\Local\AxCrypt) to clear the local cache and starts the AxCrypt app like a new.
Then uninstall the AxCrypt app and restart the system then install the latest version of AxCrypt app.
If the above doesn’t help, Please provide more detailed information about the issue and a screenshot, Also write an email to Support@axcrypt.net

Hello Ian Page,
Sorry to say, Currently the AxCrypt Mac application does not have the Drag and Drop option. But we will develop the same in the future upcoming versions.
Sign in to the AxCrypt app and click the secure button with (+)plus icon in it, and choose one or more file(s) to secure.
orNavigate to AxCrypt app file menu and choose the Secure option, which will open up file selection. Proceed by selecting one or more file.
still, if you have any queries, please write to Support@axcrypt.net. we are happy to help you.
January 1, 2024 at 09:30 in reply to: Axcrypt leaves many files visible (UNencrypted) even when program exited #33344Hello Carl,
File could not be re-encrypted
AxCrypt will keep track on the opened encrypted files, to update and re-encrypt the same. If we opened the file and updated the contents, then AxCrypt will re-encrypt the updated file.
So after editing the encrypted files, we have to click the broom icon from the AxCrypt app to re-encrypt the updated files. We have to close all the instance of the encrypted file(s) opened application.
And the AxCrypt app will be checking whether the opened file and the corresponding application are closed or not? If closed, then the AxCrypt app will automatically update the contents of the file and re-encrypt the same.
Actually, we have to close the file opened application completely, to update and re-encrypt the file. Sometimes, we have to manually click the red Broom icon, to clean and update the pending files.
Please note: If you opened and updated an encrypted text file with notepad and at the same time you had opened an another notepad application also, then you have to close both the opened applications to re-encrypt the encrypted files. You have to close all the opened corresponding applications properly.
Please close the encrypted file and corresponding file, then you can signout/exit from the AxCrypt app.
Still, you are facing any issue, please provide detailed information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net. We are happy to help you.

Hello bob,
AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.
If the file was encrypted with a different password than your sign-in password, then you have to enter the file password while viewing/decrypting the encrypted file.
For example: Try to encrypt a file with your AxCrypt password and then reset your AxCrypt account password using the Reset Password Feature. Now if you open the encrypted file, you will be prompted to enter the file password (which is used for the encryption of the file).
We will explain more about, what is the local mode.
You might be using your old AxCrypt password(which is different from the one that exists in our account server) to sign in to the AxCrypt app.
If users use an old AxCrypt account password to sign in with the AxCrypt app, then the AxCrypt app will warn the user with local mode warning text.
You can also use the AxCrypt app in local mode. However, the currently used sign-in password will be used to encrypt the files. We do not suggest the users use it in local mode unless any special cases.
So, Please use your latest password to sign in with the AxCrypt app(internet-enabled) without any issues.
Please try to clear the AxCrypt local contents by using the AxCrypt file menu File | Options | Clear All Settings & Restart or clicking the switch user button in the sign-in dialog
