March 18, 2021 at 06:25 in reply to: Need to send a PassKey to recipients (not a download and install link) #19906
Hello Steve Sousa,
Please don’t send the same question on a different topic. we responded to the same question in different topic links.
March 18, 2021 at 06:25 in reply to: Encrypt files with their own individual passphrases and sharing them #19905Hello Steve Sousa,
“Please avoid sending a same query in different mediums. You may get duplicate response”
AxCrypt will use the AxCrypt account password to encrypt/decrypt the files. The account password is used/involved to encrypt the files with the AxCrypt app.
You can use the AxCrypt key sharing feature to encrypt your file(s), then key shares the file with other recipients, If they want to open the received encrypted file then we have to share the file password with them or the files should be key shared with receivers’ email addresses.
There is no need to share passwords in order to send or share files securely with others.
AxCrypt has a key sharing feature letting you add recipients by email address, who when they receive the file can open it with their own AxCrypt password.
Key sharing embeds the shared key into the file. The file must thus first be key shared with the recipient, then sent or file shared. Please note that AxCrypt does not share or send the actual file. To see a quick instructional video explaining how to use key sharing, please view https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9z3KOZD-Yks
Please note: Recipients needs to have an AxCrypt app, AxCrypt application and account is mandatory is decrypt the encrypted files.
The recipient just needs a free AxCrypt ID and will be automatically invited via email if necessary. The invitation email contains instructions on how to view and edit the file.

Hello Bob,
Apologies for the rancid experience with AxCrypt.
Sorry to say, Currently, There is no user guide/manual for download the latest version.– but we do have lots of information and introductory videos at https://www.axcrypt.net/ .
Please check out our video tutorials at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoSoXBjq6iCG5232fHoWStA and our other documentation at https://www.axcrypt.net/information/get-started/ to get started with AxCrypt.
How does one share a key with another person so they can open encrypted documents I create with your product? Who knows? —
You can use the AxCrypt key sharing feature to encrypt your file(s), then key shares the file with other recipients, If they want to open the received encrypted file then we have to share the file password with them or the files should be key shared with receivers’ email addresses.
You can send the encrypted file via email(Gmail, yahoo, etc..) to other users. AxCrypt will not send the physical file.
I will explain about the key sharing features:
There is no need to share passwords in order to send or share files securely with others.
AxCrypt has a key sharing feature letting you add recipients by email address, who when they receive the file can open it with their own AxCrypt password.
Key sharing embeds the shared key into the file. The file must thus first be key shared with the recipient, then sent or file shared. Please note that AxCrypt does not share or send the actual file. To see a quick instructional video explaining how to use key sharing, please view https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9z3KOZD-Yks .
Note that the person you’re sending the file has to use AxCrypt 2 with the email address you shared the file. Sharing a secured file is made directly from the AxCrypt software by choosing the secured file, click the share button and simply select the team member you want to share it to. The recipient just needs a free AxCrypt ID and will be automatically invited via email if necessary. The invitation email contains instructions on how to view and edit the file.

Hello Rich Hanson,
AxCrypt 2.x will not work without AxCrypt account. Email address is required to use the AxCrypt 2.x app. Without AxCrypt account, you cannot encrypt/decrypt the files in AxCrypt 2.x.
AxCrypt will work without internet(offline) also. So no need internet to decrypt the encrypted files. For more information, please visit here https://www.axcrypt.net/blog/axcrypt-online-vs-offline
If you have any queries, please feel free to contact our support via support@axcrypt.net.
Hello George ,
Thanks for your feedback/suggestions.
We are working on App colors and design issues. The same will be fixed and updated in the upcoming versions of the AxCrypt app.
Hello mango
We’re looking at AxCrypt and it looks like I’d have to use the same password (version 2) for everyone unless we use certificates, which might be a problem either way — Sorry to say, it’s not clear. please more detailed about the question.
AxCrypt 2 now use a single sign on model where the same password is used to sign in to our servers and to protect your files.
AxCrypt will use the AxCrypt account password to encrypt/decrypt the files. The account password is used/involved to encrypt the files with the AxCrypt app.
It appears that the older version uses any password but I’m concerned that it’s not maintained and may not work properly. — yes not maintained. We are stopped developing new features and fixing issues for the legacy version(AxCrypt 1.x). we will not be actively developing 1.x, nor will support be a priority. We are advising users to use AxCrypt 2.x latest.
If you have any queries, please feel free to contact our support via support@axcrypt.net.

Hello jim,
Apologies for the rancid experience with AxCrypt.
Version 2 has typeface so dim it can’t be read. This may be due to the dark view option in MacOS Big Sur. — We are working on a design issue and it. it will release in the near future.
The right click to select files doesn’t work.– Currently the AxCrypt Mac application does not have the right click context menu. But we will develop the same in the future upcoming versions.
It appears a login is needed before each time anything can be done. — AxCrypt 2 works just like your email software or most other password-protected systems. You sign in once and remain signed in until signed out. Just like you can read many emails without entering the password every time, AxCrypt will do the same. The files are still encrypted, but your password is remembered until you sign out of AxCrypt.
AxCrypt 2.x will be available on many platforms and devices, while AxCrypt 1.x will always be limited to the Windows desktop. The new version is rewritten from the ground up on a new technological platform, and there are many differences.
AxCrypt 2 comes with newly improved and user-friendly user interface, account management(subscription information, password change and etc.) and more additional features.
Hello msej449,
This might be because of problem with a dot net framework or some other third party applications are not allowing the AxCrypt app to run. Please check your operating system has any pending updates. If any, please update.
Please check whether your operating system has dot net framework 4.5 or above? If not please install the same. You can download the dot net framework here, https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30653 .
Also Please try to check any firewall or antivirus software’s are blocking the AxCrypt app or not? If blocked, please add the AxCrypt app in the app’s whitelist. Then restart your system and install the AxCrypt app.
Please delete the folder (C:\Users\’User Name’\AppData\Local\AxCrypt) to clear the local cache and starts the AxCrypt app like a new.
Then uninstall the AxCrypt app and restart the system then install the latest version of the AxCrypt app You can download the same from our official website: https://www.axcrypt.net/download/ . (if already download, please ignore it).
Now install the AxCrypt app and try to start AxCrypting……
Still, if you are facing any issues, please write to Support@axcrypt.net. we are happy to help you.
Hello Robert,
We have increased the price. The reason is we haven’t increased prices in four years, which means that we had to increase to keep up with inflation and adjust the different currencies, otherwise we’d eventually start losing money.
Please read more information about payment: https://www.axcrypt.net/information/terms-of-use
