    Hello Ghan,

AxCrypt application will not encrypt/decrypt files automatically. Without user interaction, AxCrypt application will not encrypt/decrypt the file in the user’s system.

As per microsoft community, we found some information to resolve your issues,

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/view-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows-10-97fbc472-c603-9d90-91d0-1166d1d9f4b5#:~:text=Open%20File%20Explorer%20from%20the,folders%2C%20and%20drives%20and%20OK.

Please try to do the above if you agree, otherwise don’t please check with your system administrator. We do not gurantee about others support answers. But we are just helping the user to verify and resolve the issue.

Please use the link it will help to view the hidden folder/files. then you can check the hidden files in the appropriate file location. now you use the AxCrypt latest version to decrypt the files.

AxCrypt 1.x and 2.x are compatible in the sense that 2.x can open all files secured with 1.x.

Files secured with AxCrypt 2.x are not possible to open with AxCrypt 1.x. You cannot have both AxCrypt 1.x and 2.x installed at the same time.

Still, if you are facing any issues, please write to Support@axcrypt.net. we are happy to help you.

    Hello alex,

AxCrypt is file encryption with no backdoor.

Unfortunately, if you do not know the password for an AxCrypt-encrypted file you cannot open it, even if you can sign in to the account. This is by design, it’s just this situation that AxCrypt is made for and it works like this even if you actually are the original owner of the file.

AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.

    Hello Sara,

Please delete the folder (C:\Users\’User Name’\AppData\Local\AxCrypt) to clear the local cache and starts the AxCrypt app like a new. or click the switch user button in AxCrypt sign-in dialog box.

Now start the AxCrypt app and login to the AxCrypt new(changed) email address with credentials.

    Hello Shahin,

AxCrypt app encrypt file(s) with the .axx extension. AxCrypt encrypted files have their own file structure and AxCrypt app only can interpret and open those file(s). That’s the way AxCrypt was designed. Other than .axx extension files, can’t be opened by the AxCrypt app. No other application(s) can open the AxCrypt encrypted files.

Are you getting any exceptions or error messages while using AxCrypt app? If yes, what type of exception or error message you are getting? Please share the details of that exception or error message. We are investigating the problem and solve the problem as soon as possible.

Do you have any screenshot? If yes, Please you can send a screenshot showing where the problem is, it often helps us understand.

Still, if you are facing any issues, please write to Support@axcrypt.net. we are happy to help you.

    Hello John Sampson,

AxCrypt works by decrypting files temporarily and then launching the appropriate application for the decrypted file, which thus is entirely unaware of AxCrypt. AxCrypt monitors the system for the launched app to exit, and when it detects this it will re-encrypt the file and wipe (overwrite) the decrypted file and then delete it.

Note: The temporary files will be removed as soon as the opened encrypted file closed/signed out from the AxCrypt app.

If you have any queries, please feel free to contact our support via support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello chris leslie,

Thus the problem clearly is that the AXCrypt program itself has a fault— we will investigate the same.

is can I reload the software without causing any problems. — yes, you can reload the software without causing any problems.

I suspect that the answer is that the password is held in an encrypted format withing the file and nowhere else, in which case the answer is ‘yes’!  — yes Correct, AxCrypt is a file encryption software with no backdoor. AxCrypt do not store users’ information or password in our server, instead it will keep the users’ basic information like Email address, IP Address and more.

Please read more info about how AxCrypt works and technical information page: https://www.axcrypt.net/information/technical/  or   https://www.axcrypt.net/support/faq

    Hello AIC.

Is that the AxCrypt app in local mode ? – No, If users used an old AxCrypt account password to sign in with the AxCrypt app, then the AxCrypt app will warn the user with local mode.

we have already explained in local mode.

I’ve started to use the same password on both AxCrypt app and my Online account (your server). I then changed password for my Online account—Do you log in to the AxCrypt app in the previous password? if yes, the AxCrypt app is changed to local mode.

Still, you are facing any query, please provide detailed information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net. We are happy to help you.
