    I have checked twice in the installer version and portable version.

    The AxCrypt latest version showing correctly in both(title bar & about menu). Sorry to say, we are not able to re-create the issue.

    AxCrypt 1 is a very old application that we can offer no support for, not because we don’t want to but because we simply can’t (the last person with any technical knowledge of AxCrypt 1 left the company over a year ago). This is why we make it extremely clear on our website that AxCrypt 1 should not be used.

    It sounds like the AxCrypt 1 installation has for whatever reason been corrupted (this can happen if you accidentally remove or move files that is part of the installation, or a multitude of other reasons). You could try to reinstall AxCrypt 1 and see if that fixes the problem. Or in worst case fixing it might require a reinstallation of operating system.

    These are all general guesses, and we unfortunately can’t assist you any further technically.

    However! Your files are of course safe, and can be decrypted on any computer with AxCrypt 2 installed. If you need immediate access you could maybe borrow a computer where you can install AxCrypt 2. If you have a mobile phone with Android or iOS we could also arrange for a premium account to be setup for you so you can access the files from your phone.

    Sorry to hear this. I will check and fix the same. Below I will explain the link content.

    In the previous version of AxCrypt, it was sometimes necessary to use different passwords for different files. This happened when files were shared between different persons. Obviously you then needed to share the password as well, but you do not want to share your own password. So, for each set of persons sharing a file, a different password was needed.

    Additionally, it happened that users would set different passwords for different files, even if they were only for private use. This may *feel* safer, but in fact at best it adds no security and at worst it causes a situation with *less* security.

    The first scenario, sharing of encrypted files with other persons, is handled in AxCrypt by the Key Sharing feature. This will be discussed elsewhere, let it just be said here that it’s a much better way to achieve this benefit than different passwords.

    The second, using different passwords for yourself, is a little counterintuitive perhaps but the truth is – there is no need, and no benefit. It might *feel* better, but it’s not the solution to any problem. One aspect is that having many passwords will most likely be more inconvenient and thus make you less prone to use encryption. That’s bad, you don’t have that added protection. Also, it increases the risk of forgetting one of them. That’s bad, you lose your data. If you have too many, you’ll have to use a password manager to keep track of them. That’s not necessarily bad, but it doesn’t improve anything either.

    Using many passwords actually tend to decrease the practical security because it’s more inconvenient the barrier against use is higher, and also it’s simply too hard to keep track of many strong passwords. So the typical situation will be many weak passwords. Instead we’re saying that if you can handle one, strong password for all your files, we’ll make it convenient to use since you don’t have to enter it very often. This will in practical terms tend to increase security overall.

    Security pundits have always looked for the holy grail of single sign on. We’re not there yet, and we won’t get there in our lifetime, but the main point is: Fewer passwords is better. That’s what we’re trying to achieve with AxCrypt 2.

    So, instead of using different passwords for different files, set a good and strong password and use that. With AxCrypt 2, you’ll only have to type it once per session, then you have immediate access to all your files. One password to rule them all…

    Regardless of whether you’re an old user of AxCrypt 1, or a new user, don’t fall into the multiple password trap. If you’re already in there, use AxCrypt and it’s auto conversion feature to quickly and easily get out of it!

    I have understood your question. Sorry to say, AxCrypt doesn’t support the option to change the temp location.

    Hello Sordoko,

    We do not offer the option to change the install location. The reason is that too many users choose unsuitable locations, such as removable drives. For power users it is still possible to override by extracting the MSI and setting the parameter there.

    Sorry to say, AxCrypt doesn’t support the option to change the install location.

    Hello Ard Jan,

    AxCrypt app you can see the progress bar and notification.

    If you can encrypt/decrypt the more than 10 seconds of encryption file, AxCrypt will send the process bar notification.

    when the task completed the encryption process AxCrypt app will send a notification.

    When encrypting bulk amount of files or larger files, AxCrypt will take some more time to finish the encryption/decryption. AxCrypt performs as much as faster based on the user’s system configuration and the file size.

    We are going to start working on the App optimization issues. So users will get the optimized version of the AxCrypt app in near future.

    Hello Sergio,

    Sign in to the AxCrypt app with different email address/AxCrypt accounts, Please try to clear the AxCrypt local contents by using the AxCrypt file menu File | Options | Clear All Settings & Restart or clicking the Reset button in the sign in dialog. This will clear all the local contents cache of the AxCrypt app and restart the app like a freshly installed one. Now you can enter the AxCrypt account and credentials.

    Hello Emre,

    AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.

    If you think you almost know the password, we have simple software allowing you to try to find your password, and you can download the most recent version from https://account.axcrypt.net/Download/AxBruteForce.exe and read of how to use it at https://www.axcrypt.net/axcrypt-brute-force/. Please note that we cannot provide support beyond this.

    Unfortunately, if you do not know the password for an AxCrypt-encrypted file you cannot open it, even if you can sign in to the account. This is by design, it’s just this situation that AxCrypt is made for and it works like this even if you actually are the original owner of the file.

    So please try to remember the file password(which was used in the encryption process) to decrypt/open the old encrypted files.

    If you do not remember the password to your account, you can always reset it. This is not a way to recover encrypted files! It’s only to allow you to sign in to the AxCrypt app and web. The new password will be used to encrypt new files. Go to https://account.axcrypt.net/Home/PasswordReset to do this, or you can also go there from AxCrypt with File | Options | Password Reset.

    Hello Danny,

    AxCrypt 2 now use a single sign on model where the same password is used to sign in to our servers and to protect your files.

    Sorry to say, AxCrypt 2.x does not support different password for different files feature due to some security reasons. Please refer our blog for more info: https://www.axcrypt.net/blog/use-of-different-passwords/ .

    Hello Jantzen,

    You have login in AxCrypt Local mode We will explain more about, what is the local mode?

    You might be used your old AxCrypt password(which is different from the one that is exists in our account server) to sign in to the AxCrypt app.

    If users used an old AxCrypt account password to sign in with the AxCrypt app, then the AxCrypt app will warn the user with local mode warning text.

    You can also use the AxCrypt app in local mode. But the currently used sign in password will be used to encrypt the files. We do not suggest the users to use it in local mode, unless any special cases.

    So, Please use your latest password to sign in with the AxCrypt app(internet enabled) without any issues.

    Or

    Please try to clear the AxCrypt local contents by clicking the Reset button in the sign in dialog or via the AxCrypt file menu File | Options | Clear All Settings & Restart.

    Then uninstall the AxCrypt app and restart the system the install the latest version of the AxCrypt app. You can download the same from our official website: https://www.axcrypt.net/download/ .

    Now install the AxCrypt app(with internet connection) and try to start AxCrypting……without any issue.

    You can use the AxCrypt key sharing feature to encrypt your file(s), then key shares the file with other team member,  If they want to open the received encrypted file then we have to share the file password with them or the files should be key shared with receivers’ email addresses.

    AxCrypt has a key sharing feature letting you add recipients by email address, who when they receive the file can open it with their own AxCrypt password.

    Key sharing embeds the shared key into the file. The file must thus first be key shared with the recipient, then sent or file shared. Please note that AxCrypt does not share or send the actual file. To see a quick instructional video explaining how to use key sharing, please view https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9z3KOZD-Yks .

    Yes, You can also revoke the file shared access. After that, access revoked users will not be able to access the encrypted files.

    But, if the user copied the shared encrypted file(s) from the shared file server to their local system, then he/she can access the copied local file. Because you were revoked the access for the original file which is in the shared file server but the user copied the shared file to their local storage before revoking the access.

    Still, removed users do not have an access to the original file.

    Hello louis,

    AxCrypt is a file encryption software. But AxCrypt has a feature called Secured Folder which provides the convenience to the users, to secure more than one files in a single operation. You can encrypt the USB Drive/disk folder/file(S) using AxCrypt Secured folder features.

    AxCrypt Secured Folder:  — AxCrypt secures files, individually. However, you can designate folders as ‘secured’. The folders will be monitored for new files, and AxCrypt will secure all new files with a single click, or when you sign out.

    You can also select multiple files, including all files in a folder, to be secured in a single operation. They still remain individual files, and the folder itself is not secured, just the files in it.

    Please note: AxCrypt secured folder is a premium feature.

    Hello H. Delrio,

    Sign in to the AxCrypt app with your AxCrypt credentials. Then follow the below instructions to decrypt the encrypted file(s)

    You can decrypt the encrypted file, first select encrypted files and then right-click on the file and select AxCrypt > Decrypt

    Or You can able to decrypt the AxCrypt encrypted file by navigating File | Stop Securing from the AxCrypt app.

    Or In the recent files tab, select encrypted file then right click on the file(which you want to decrypt) and select Stop Securing and remove from list.

    After decrypting the encrypted file. file changed to the original extension. now you open the video with the corresponding application then edit the video file.
