Hello John Isaac,
Currently, AxCrypt doesn’t support this feature( set up a temporary password on a file).
We have a feature called AxCrypt key sharing.
You can use the AxCrypt key sharing feature to encrypt your file(s), then key shares the file with other recipients/employees/partner or key shared encrypted file to send/share the network/server., If they want to open the received encrypted file then we have to share the file password with them or the files should be key shared with receivers’ email addresses.
There is no need to share passwords in order to send or share files securely with others. AxCrypt has a key sharing feature letting you add recipients by email address, who when they receive the file can open it with their own AxCrypt password.
To see a quick instructional video explaining how to use key sharing, please view https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUVWbmiEFSs

July 18, 2025 at 13:54 in reply to: How can I permanently remove axcrypt encryption from my files and folders? #45640Hello Basketball bros,
AxCrypt only encrypts back temporarily decrypted files on signing out or closing the application. It also enables a “broom” so called a clean-up icon which suggests that some encrypted files are opened and not re-encrypted back. If you want these open files to re-encrypt, please make sure that the file is saved and closed and also that the application in which it opened is closed. In case if you don’t want your files to be in safe encrypted format, you may choose to permanently decrypt it.
Hello Brian,
Sorry to hear this.
Please check, the AxCrypt application is running in the background. Please check whether the task manager AxCrypt is running or not. If running means, stop the AxCrypt app. Then start the AxCrypt app. Now it’s working.
Please note: This might be because some other third-party applications are not allowing the AxCrypt app to run. Please try to check if any firewall or antivirus software is blocking the AxCrypt app or not. If blocked, please add the AxCrypt app to the app’s whitelist.
Still, you are facing the same problem, Please feel free to contact our support via support@axcrypt.net.Also provide step-by-step information about the issue.
Hello Russell Robles,
Sorry to say, If the encrypted file is corrupted/Damaged then AxCrypt will not able to decrypt the same. But we have a feature called Try Broken File. You can decrypt the corrupted AxCrypt encrypted files by navigating the menu File | Options | enable Debug from the AxCrypt app.
Now you could see the Debug the menu in the AxCrypt app. From the debug menu choose Try Broken File.
Then you will be prompted for file selection. Select the corrupted encrypted file and then AxCrypt will try to decrypt the file. If successfully decrypted, then you can see the decrypted file in the file location.
Unfortunately, If the file is actually damaged to this extent, sorry to say, no, it can’t be fixed. The data is just not there to decrypt it.
If you have any queries/issues, please write to Support@axcrypt.net. We are happy to help you.
