Hello Richard,
AxCrypt will keep track on the opened encrypted files, to update and re-encrypt the same. If we opened the file and updated the contents, then AxCrypt will re-encrypt the updated file.
So after editing the encrypted files, we have to click the broom icon from the AxCrypt app to re-encrypt the updated files. We have to close all the instance of the encrypted file(s) opened application.
And the AxCrypt app will be checking whether the opened file and the corresponding application are closed or not? If closed, then the AxCrypt app will automatically update the contents of the file and re-encrypt the same.
Actually, we have to close the file opened application completely, to update and re-encrypt the file. Sometimes, we have to manually click the red Broom icon, to clean and update the pending files.
Please close the encrypted file and corresponding file, Please check the AxCrypt app every time, it will update the file, it’s then you can signout/exit from the AxCrypt app.
You can encrypt files/folders. But you or any other system application(s) should not interrupt the AxCrypt app during the Encryption/decryption process. If you or other third-party applications will forcefully stop the AxCrypt app during the process, then the AxCrypt app will stop the process. your files are pending to re-encryption in this location(C:\Users\’User Name’\AppData\Local\AxCrypt). please check this location. if you find any file you can copy the content and save the content in the original file.
The location(C:\Users\’user name’\AppData\Local\AxCrypt) is for the temporary decrypted copies of the files. Those will either be cleaned automatically at the earliest opportunity or when you click the red clean “broom” icon in AxCrypt.
AxCrypt works by decrypting files temporarily and then launching the appropriate application for the decrypted file, which thus is entirely unaware of AxCrypt. AxCrypt monitors the system for the launched app to exit, and when it detects this it will re-encrypt the file and wipe (overwrite) the decrypted file and then delete it.
Note: The temporary files will be removed as soon as the opened encrypted file closed/signed out from the AxCrypt app.

April 13, 2022 at 10:07 in reply to: can activate AxCrypt on Android phone but not on Android tablet #26262Hello Ephraim ,
Please first completely remove the AxCrypt app on your tablet. After that, you have to install the AxCrypt app.
We support Andriod v5.o and above.
No limit. You can install and login(with the same Subscription account) to the AxCrypt app with the n number of devices. But If you are the only person is going to use, then you can use it. Otherwise you need to share your account password to all users who are all using the same account. Sometimes this leads to security breach.
still, if you facing any issue, please provide more detailed information about the issue with a screenshot and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net.
Hello Angela,
Please explain which file type do you have try to view/decrypt?
In Mobile app, The problem with Microsoft Office files is because of a new Android permission requirement for apps to read each other’s files. We’re working on a fix and will have it out shortly.

March 17, 2022 at 08:00 in reply to: Is the free version of AxCrypt for PC changing to viewer only? #26075Hello Ax,
If you want to encrypt the file in the Andriod app you need the premium subscription. In an Andriod app, A free subscription won’t allow encryption, but you can open your previous encrypted file.
Hello Alain,
If you know the file password(which was used in the file encryption process) to decrypt/open the encrypted file. You can use the AxCrypt app with a free subscription to decrypt/open all your encrypted files.
If the above doesn’t help, please write an email to our support team support@axcrypt.net.

Hello ,
AxCrypt desktop app can work without internet – App status changed to offline when the user starts the app without internet. But we always advised/suggested to all of our users to start the AxCrypt app with the internet at least for the first time – to sync the user account information from our servers to users local.
AxCrypt user’s information is securely stored in our servers. When the user tries to sign in to the AxCrypt app, it requires the user’s account information to validate, sync the subscription status and decide the encryption level, etc. AxCrypt app tries to connect our servers to sync the account and subscription when the user signs in. That’s the reason we always suggest that users start the AxCrypt app with internet enabled.
