    Hello Yasha

AxCrypt application will not encrypt/decrypt files automatically. Without user interaction AxCrypt application will not encrypt/decrypt the file in the user’s system. If you encrypt the file/folder, you will encrypt the file manually.

The AxCrypt app will be monitoring the folder path, When we add a folder in the secured folders list.

Monitoring the folder path is for re-encryption process. If the file in fact is located in a folder designated as “Secured”, it will soon be re-encrypted again since those folders are monitored for unencrypted files and will encrypt them when you sign out, or click the “Broom” clean up icon.

Please check do you add any folders in the secure folder section. –if yes, Please completely remove the folder from the secured folder. Now check the same.

AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.

If the file was encrypted with a different password than your sign in password, then you have to enter the file password while viewing/decrypting the encrypted file.

For example: Try to encrypt a file with your AxCrypt password and then reset your AxCrypt account password using Reset Password Feature. Now if you open the encrypted file, you will be prompted for enter the file password (which is used for encryption of the file).

    Hello David,

As we said in the previous answer clearly, AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.

Still, you can open/decrypt the encrypted files with the original file password(which was used in the file encryption process).

Please check: If the file was encrypted with a different password than your sign in password, then you have to enter the file password while viewing/decrypting the encrypted file.

If the above doesn’t help, please write an email to our support team support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello

AxCrypt is a file encryption software with no backdoor. AxCrypt do not store users’ information or file/folder information or password in our server, instead it will keep the users’ basic information like Email address, IP Address and more. To know more about what stored on our server, please check our privacy policy- https://www.axcrypt.net/information/privacy-policy/.

AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.

If you think you almost know the password, we have simple software allowing you to try to find your password, and you can download the most recent version from https://account.axcrypt.net/Download/AxBruteForce.exe  and read of how to use it at https://www.axcrypt.net/axcrypt-brute-force/. Please note that we cannot provide support beyond this.

So please try to remember the file password(which was used in the encryption process) to decrypt/open the old encrypted files.

If you are asking any Queries, please write to Support@axcrypt.net. we are happy to help you.

    Hello Russell Scoates,

Currently, AxCrypt doesn’t have an upload option.

Please create a separate folder in the cloud, In that folder is what you to encrypt the file to add the file in that folder. AxCrypt encrypts the file.

If you don’t want to unencrypt some files, please create a separate folder, and also no need to add the folder in AxCrypt secure folder.

In the future, we are adding the option in the cloud.

If the above doesn’t help, please provide more information about the issue and some screenshots and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello Don Irwin,

We are stopped developing new features and fixing issues for the legacy version(AxCrypt 1.x). we will not be actively developing 1.x, nor will support be a priority. We are advising users to use AxCrypt 2.x latest.

You can open/decrypt the previously encrypted document(1.x) with the latest version(2.x). Still, you can open/decrypt the old encrypted files with the original file password(which was used in the file encryption process).

AxCrypt 1.x and 2.x are compatible in the sense that 2.x can open all files secured with 1.x. In addition to that, 2.x implements of lot of new rich features, while some functions of 1.x are deprecated. Files secured with AxCrypt 2.x are not possible to open with AxCrypt 1.x. You cannot have both AxCrypt 1.x and 2.x installed at the same time.

If you open files encrypted with a different password than your sign in password, which often is the case directly after upgrading to version 2, you will be prompted for that original password. If the file was encrypted with version 1, it will then be automatically upgraded to version 2 and to use the new sign in password which means you won’t be prompted again for the old password.

    Hello  Geoff,

AxCrypt uses the standard Windows Installer technology for install and uninstall. There should be no specific issues with that. You can install/uninstall the software as normal. we are not sure that,  this is not related AxCrypt, Please check with the system administrator.

Please write an email with a screenshot to our support team support@axcrypt.net.
