    Hello Paul,

Sorry to say, Currently there is no certificate/acknowledgment. we will discuss this with our team.

Here I will explain how AxCrypt secure delete works.

AxCrypt Secure Delete simply open the file using normal file system calls, then overwrite the contents of the file with random data, issue an instruction to the operating system to flush (i.e. actually write the data to disk). This will stop normal file recovery using the recovery tools.

However, there are many caveats depending on the technology used underneath.

If you have Windows “shadow copies” enabled, there may be older copies available. If you have Windows compression enabled, the actual data written is likely not what the program thinks. If the drive is a SSD device with wear levelling (most do) then special software may be able to recover data, although it’ll be hard to re-assemble whole files without a lot of work. There are other special situations too.

As has been evidenced by the actions of various security agencies in the last couple of years, the only apparently trustworthy data-sanitation tool is a power drill, sledge hammer or high pressure compactors.

AxCrypt secure delete will suffice for most reasonable situations. If you want a more secure non-destructive tool complement with periodic use of tools such as Eraser (it will overwrite all empty blocks on the disk until the disk is full). If you think the man is after you, see above suggested power tools.

    Hello Chris,

If you are added the new file in a secured folder, then you have to click the “Broom icon”  from the AxCrypt app. now your newly added file is encrypted. Without click the broom your file are not encrypt.

AxCrypt Secured Folder:  — AxCrypt secures files, individually. However, you can designate folders as ‘secured’. The folders will be monitored for new files, and AxCrypt will secure all new files with a single click.

Incase the folder is not listed in the Secured Folder list, then you have to secure the folder again using the Add Secured Folder option from the right click content menu. Now you can click the broom icon. Now your files are encrypted.

Still, if you are facing any Query/issues, please provide more information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello Bern,

We have changed the inactivity signout feature to paid subscriptions around three years back.

In the free version inactivity signout feature is disabled only.

Please note: Inactivity Sign Out is s premium feature.

If you need this feature, you need to purchase the same.

AxCrypt 2 works just like your email software or most other password-protected systems. You sign in once and remain signed in until signed out. Just like you can read many emails without entering the password every time, AxCrypt will do the same. The files are still encrypted, but your password is remembered until you sign out of AxCrypt.

AxCrypt stays signed in until signed out, just like most similar applications such as your email. Once signed in, you can read, write and update information without having to re-enter the password, until signed out. AxCrypt will automatically sign out when the screen saver goes active(based on the Inactivity Sign Out configuration), or you can sign out manually.

You can use our Inactivity Sign Out feature, to sign out the AxCrypt app on certain time interval of inactivity. Also you can sign out the AxCrypt app, when opened the encrypted file(s). Now AxCrypt will ask the user to enter the sign in password to sign in to the AxCrypt app. For Inactivity Sign Out, File | Options | Inactivity Sign Out | Choose duration in minutes.

If somebody know your system password, so you can sign-out the AxCrypt app manually.

If someone knows your system or Pc password, so you can sign out the AxCrypt app manually. After that nobody to decrypt the encrypted file without file password.

If you have any queries, please feel free to contact our support via  support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello Roberson,

AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.

If you think you almost know the password, we have simple software allowing you to try to find your password, and you can download the most recent version from https://account.axcrypt.net/Download/AxBruteForce.exe and read of how to use it at https://www.axcrypt.net/axcrypt-brute-force/. Please note that we cannot provide support beyond this.

Unfortunately, if you do not know the password for an AxCrypt-encrypted file you cannot open it, even if you can sign in to the account. This is by design, it’s just this situation that AxCrypt is made for and it works like this even if you actually are the original owner of the file.

So please try to remember the file password(which was used in the encryption process) to decrypt/open the old encrypted files.

If you do not remember the password to your account, you can always reset it. This is not a way to recover encrypted files! It’s only to allow you to sign in to the AxCrypt app and web. The new password will be used to encrypt new files. Go to https://account.axcrypt.net/Home/PasswordReset to do this, or you can also go there from AxCrypt with File | Options | Password Reset.

For more info about Password Reset: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6whtjSb3pc and https://www.axcrypt.net/blog/password-reset-axcrypt/

A final note: Do not forget your password, or you will lose your encrypted file and always keep a backup of all your important files, encrypted or not.

If you have any queries, please feel free to contact our support via  support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello Kristina,

First  synchronizing your One Drive files to your local system, then just encrypt those with the AxCrypt app. Once again sync your local system with One Drive. Now your One Drive file are encrypted.

Note : If we tried to decrypt/encrypt the files which are synched with the cloud storage services(like one drive and etc), then the cloud service provider/application will need the internet to sync the file(s) between your system and the cloud service.

AxCrypt just encrypts the files only. Sync and delete processes are done by one drive, Once sync your file Please check with one drive. Your uploaded files are properly uploaded or not. at the same, you check the encrypted files also.

note: Please always keep a backup of all your important files, encrypted or not.

If you have any queries, please feel free to contact our support via  support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello Kristina,

AxCrypt secure your file and changed to .axx extension. If the files are having an “.axx” file extension, then the files are secured/encrypted  with the AxCrypt app.

AxCrypt app encrypt file(s) with the .axx extension. AxCrypt encrypted files have their own file structure and AxCrypt app only can interpret and open those file(s). That’s the way AxCrypt was designed. Other than .axx extension files, can’t be opened by the AxCrypt app. No other application(s) can open the AxCrypt encrypted files.

If the above doesn’t help, please provide more information about the issue and some screenshots and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello Charles Parker,

Please check whether you are using the AxCrypt portable version or installed version?

Currently, the AxCrypt right-click context menu is available only in the windows (Installer) version of the AxCrypt app. You can see the same by installing the latest version of the AxCrypt app in your windows system.

If you are using AxCrypt installed version to check the control panel? AxCrypt app are install or not?

If not means, I think you had to install a portable version in your system. (not sure)

Download the latest version of the AxCrypt app from our official website (https://forum.axcrypt.net/download/ ).

Still, if you are facing any issues, please provide more information about the issue and some screenshot and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net

    Hello Tunney Barrett,

AxCrypt has a feature called Secured Folder which provides the convenience to the users, to secure more than one files in a single operation. You can encrypt the Drive/disk folder/file(S) using AxCrypt Secured folder features.

AxCrypt Secured Folder:  — AxCrypt secures files, individually. However, you can designate folders as ‘secured’. The folders will be monitored for new files, and AxCrypt will secure all new files with a single click, or when you sign out.

How to secure (encrypt) the Folder?

You can able to encrypt your folder contents by just drag and drop the folder to the Secured Folders area.

Or Right click on the Secured Folders area and choosing Add Secured Folder option from the context menu.

or Select the folder and right click on the folder and select the AxCrypt | Encrypt menu option from the windows explorer context menu.

    Hello howard hunter,

AxCrypt decrypts the encrypted file and helps to open the same with the corresponding application(s).

When we open the encrypted .doc/.xlsx file, AxCrypt just decrypts the file only. After that doc/.xlsx file are opening in the Corresponding Application which was mapped in your laptop/system.

Please choose any one of the office readers, then encrypted open the same. I think this is an office reader problem, not an AxCrypt problem.(not sure)

Still, you are facing the same problem, Please feel free to contact our support via support@axcrypt.net.Also provide step by step information about the issue.
