    Hello Claude-Alain Heritier,

AxCrypt will not encrypt/open .tmp file.

AxCrypt app tries to re-encrypt the file that time you have to sign out or Automatically sign out from the AxCrypt app.  so you will get the dialog ”cannot allow..”.

Please check that time you have a sign-in to the AxCrypt app or not? Please sign in to the AxCrypt app and check some other files.

still, If you are facing any issues, you can feel free to contact our support via support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello Visitor,

AxCrypt works by decrypting files temporarily and then launching the appropriate application for the decrypted file, which thus is entirely unaware of AxCrypt. AxCrypt monitors the system for the launched app to exit, and when it detects this it will re-encrypt the file and wipe (overwrite) the decrypted file and then delete it.

AxCrypt secure delete will help you to delete the files completely from your system.

If your encrypted files are deleted by AxCrypt secure delete. There is no way to recover the encrypted files to decrypt/open the files.

If your recover encrypted file(s) are good condition you can decrypt the files. Otherwise, If the file is actually damaged/corrupted to this extent, no, it can’t be fixed. The data is just not there to decrypt it

If you’ve deleted an encrypted file from your computer, you may be able to recover it using a commercial or free file undelete tool but there is no guarantee. We cannot provide any recommendation on the tool to use.

still, If you are facing any issues, you can feel free to contact our support via support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello Ahmed,

Just open the old encrypted file and enter the file password(which was used in the file encryption process). Now AxCrypt opens the file.

    Forget password:

AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.

If you think you almost know the password, we have simple software allowing you to try to find your password, and you can download the most recent version from https://account.axcrypt.net/Download/AxBruteForce.exe and read of how to use it at https://www.axcrypt.net/axcrypt-brute-force/. Please note that we cannot provide support beyond this.

Unfortunately, if you do not know the password for an AxCrypt-encrypted file you cannot open it, even if you can sign in to the account. This is by design, it’s just this situation that AxCrypt is made for and it works like this even if you actually are the original owner of the file.

So please try to remember the file password(which was used in the encryption process) to decrypt/open the old encrypted files.

If you do not remember the password to your account, you can always reset it. This is not a way to recover encrypted files! It’s only to allow you to sign in to the AxCrypt app and web. The new password will be used to encrypt new files. Go to https://account.axcrypt.net/Home/PasswordReset to do this, or you can also go there from AxCrypt with File | Options | Password Reset.

For more info about Password Reset: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6whtjSb3pc and https://www.axcrypt.net/blog/password-reset-axcrypt/

Please note: AxCrypt is a file encryption software with no backdoor. That means, Nobody can decrypt the encrypted files without the file password used in the file encryption. This is the way AxCrypt app was designed.

    Hello Mcgyver,

I will explain below what happens in after change password in AxCrypt.

If you change your password (not reset)  in the AxCrypt App, will all of your previously encryped files require the new password.

Whenever a file is encrypted, it’s encrypted with a random key. That key, in turn, is encrypted with the user’s password AND with the users public key.

When the user changes the password on the website, the private key is re-encrypted with the new password.

When you change (not reset) your password for your AxCrypt ID account, *all* files previously encrypted with that AxCrypt ID account will automatically open with the new changed password.

When the user then sign-ins on the app with internet enabled, the local encrypted copy of the private key is updated with the new encrypted version from the server.

Thus, the user can actually “change” password for all his/her files.

Both the Password reset and change are not the same. For more information about password change and reset, please check out our blog: https://www.axcrypt.net/blog/password-reset-axcrypt/.

    Hello Charles,

I will explain How AxCrypt(2.x) Works:

AxCrypt 2 works just like your email software or most other password-protected systems. You sign in once and remain signed in until signed out. Just like you can read many emails without entering the password every time, AxCrypt will do the same. The files are still encrypted, but your password is remembered until you sign out of AxCrypt.

AxCrypt stays signed in until signed out, just like most similar applications such as your email. Once signed in, you can read, write and update information without having to re-enter the password, until signed out. AxCrypt will automatically sign out when the screen saver goes active(based on the Inactivity Sign Out configuration), or you can sign out manually.

You can use our Inactivity Sign Out feature, to sign out the AxCrypt app on certain time interval of inactivity. Also you can sign out the AxCrypt app, when opened the encrypted file(s). Now AxCrypt will ask the user to enter the sign in password to sign in to the AxCrypt app. For Inactivity Sign Out, File | Options | Inactivity Sign Out | Choose duration in minutes.

For Inactivity Sign Out, File | Options | Inactivity Sign Out | Choose duration in minutes.

Please note: Inactivity Sign Out is s premium feature.

If you are facing any issues, you can feel free to contact our support via support@axcrypt.net.
