Hello Larry,
This seems need a slight improvement … We’ve added a bug issue for this: https://bitbucket.org/axantum/axcrypt-net/issues/447/help-button-missing-in-initial-information .
The “help” intended is the question mark in the dialog, which is the standard Windows help icon. But we’ll add a Help-button for clarity. Clicking it leads to https://forum.axcrypt.net/information/get-started/ .
Hello Federico,
You don’t say, but I’m guessing you’re using AxCrypt 1.x for this. Version 1.x is unsupported and unmaintained unfortunately. Even more unfortunately – AxCrypt 2.x does not yet support a command line client… You can integrate via source code inclusion, but it requires C#/.NET programming skills.
Allt his being said – there’s no fundamental reason why you could not use AxCrypt 1.x as you intend. You do have to handle the password in one way or another, typically passing it from an environment variable to the command line.
Hello Bernie,
If you have AxCrypt Premium, add the folder as a secured folder in the secured folder tab.
Or, you can just select the files and/or the folder in Windows Explorer and select ‘AxCrypt | Encrypt’.
In either case, AxCrypt does not work any differently on pictures than on other files.
You can also check out our instructions and videos at https://forum.axcrypt.net/ .
Hello Enrique,
Can you please send a screen shot of the AxCrypt window and the error message?
The most likely reason is that you are trying to decrypt a file that is not an AxCrypt file, or that the file is damaged.
Hello ahmed,
We’ve been trying to follow what’s happening through the logs – but it’s very hard to do because you’ve done so many things with so many email addresses (we’ve seen 4 I think)… Password resets, email changes, invites, deletions, re-creation etc.
Of course you should not get an error like you’re seeing, but in order for us to understand the current situation we’ll need a complete error report as described here: https://forum.axcrypt.net/blog/send-complete-error-report/ .
This will give us more insight in the current situation, even if we can’t follow all the details of the sequence of events up to this point.
Hello Robin,
We should probably advertise that more clearly on the download page, I’ll let the web team know.
Full information can be found here: https://forum.axcrypt.net/information/release-notes/ – and that link should also be available directly from the download page.
Thank you for pointing this out!

First of all, ensure you have the most recent version that you can download from https://forum.axcrypt.net/ .
If this does not help, please follow the instructions here: https://forum.axcrypt.net/blog/send-complete-error-report/ and send them to support att axcrypt dott net .
Hello Don,
Glad to hear it. Happy AxCrypting!
Hello Nicky,
Ok, thanks – that tells us some things such as you’re running AxCrypt 2.x in Windows and the shell extension appears to be properly installed. When you say nothing happens when you select open or decrypt – do you literally mean that?
Can you also try the “About” and “Advanced” options?
If you for some reason have deleted, moved or removed the actual software this menu still works, so you should also try to start the program by clicking the Start button and typing:
AxCrypt
You should then be able to start the program. If this does not work, do uninstall and re-install the current version of AxCrypt available from https://forum.axcrypt.net/ .
Hello Nicky,
Please send a screen shot of the situation (this actually does help a lot in many cases) when you are trying to right-click the file and chose for example “decrypt”.
It’s not a complete download. Are you using a download manager or something like that?
Note that the file is 0 (zero) bytes long – even if AxCrypt is compact and small, we’re not quite that small!
So it’s not that strange that it won’t run!
Hello Don,
Perhaps your download is broken or you have not downloaded from our site https://forum.axcrypt.net ?
The standalone executable has a valid digital signature. This was just downloaded directly from our site:

Hello Annie,
You enable the feature “Include Sub Folders” and then select the files and folders you want to decrypt.
Hello Don,
Not 100% sure what Windows PD is… But googling the message seems to point to Smart Screen as a possible culprit. You can also check and verify the digital signature of the executable.
Hello FinalBytes,
I am sorry, but at this time we don’t have an option for a personal message – but we definitely should and also support the option of you as inviter selecting the recipient language. We’ve added two new issues for this. Thank you for the suggestion, we will certainly implement this, although it may take a little while.
