Hello Geri,
Please explain what is the problem you are facing the AxCrypt application.
Please write an email to contact our support team (support@axcrypt.net)with detailed information about the issue and some screenshot, our support team happy to help you.
Hello Thomas,
AxCrypt will keep track on the opened encrypted files, to update and re-encrypt the same. If we opened the file and updated the contents, then AxCrypt will re-encrypt the updated file.
So after editing the encrypted files, we have to click the broom icon or sign out from the AxCrypt app to re-encrypt the updated files.
We have to close all the instance of the encrypted file(s) opened application.
For example: You opened an encrypted document and updating the document. At the same time, If you have opened another document in the same application, or even if just the application is running without an opened document, AxCrypt can’t be sure enough to actually do the re-encryption.
So we have to close all the opened application instances. If you closed all the instances, then you will not get any warning dialogs.
Still, you are facing any issues, please provide more information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net.Hello Rob,
AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.
AxCrypt will use the AxCrypt account password to encrypt/decrypt the files. The account password is used/involved to encrypt the files with the AxCrypt app.
If the file was encrypted with a different password than your sign in password, then you have to enter the file password while viewing/decrypting the encrypted file.
Still, you can open/decrypt the old encrypted files with the original file password(which was used in the file encryption process).
So please try to remember the file password(which was used in the encryption process) to decrypt/open the old encrypted files.
If you think you almost know the password, we have simple software allowing you to try to find your password, and you can download the most recent version from https://account.axcrypt.net/Download/AxBruteForce.exe and read of how to use it at https://forum.axcrypt.net/axcrypt-brute-force/ . Please note that we cannot provide support beyond this.

Hello Spasé,
We have literally hundreds of thousands of users a succeed in signing in, both using the app and the web.
I think you perhaps are not careful enough when you type the password – or you are not aware that upper and lower case characters are different, and spaces and accents are significant when typing the password.
I suggest you use the ‘show password’ option in both the web and the app, and ensure that what is type is truly identical.

Hello GARY,
AxCrypt will keep track on the opened encrypted files, to update and re-encrypt the same.
And the AxCrypt app will be checking whether the opened file and the corresponding application are closed or not? If closed, then the AxCrypt app will automatically update the contents of the file and re-encrypt the same.
Actually, we have to close the file opened application completely, to update and re-encrypt the file. Sometimes, we have to manually click the red Broom icon, to clean and update the pending files.
Please note: If you opened and updated an encrypted text file with notepad and at the same time you had opened an another notepad application also, then you have to close both the opened applications to re-encrypt the encrypted files. You have to close all the opened corresponding applications properly.
Please close the encrypted file and corresponding file, then you can signout/exit from the AxCrypt app. without any issue.
Still, you are facing any issues, please provide more information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net.
Hello Scott Schuller,
If you are receiving the warning dialog frequently, please click the Don’t show this again option. After that you never see this kind of warning.
AxCrypt has a feature called Secured Folder which provides the convenience to the users, to secure more than one files in a single operation. You can encrypt the folder/file(S) using AxCrypt Secured folder features.
AxCrypt Secured Folder:
AxCrypt secures files, individually. However, you can designate folders as ‘secured’. The folders will be monitored for new files, and AxCrypt will secure all new files with a single click, or when you sign out.
You can also select multiple files, including all files in a folder, to be secured in a single operation. They still remain individual files, and the folder itself is not secured, just the files in it.
AxCrypt Re-Encryption with a Broom icon:
If the file in fact is located in a folder designated as “Secured”, it will soon be re-encrypted again since those folders are monitored for unencrypted files and will encrypt them when you sign out, or click the “Broom” clean up icon.
AxCrypt 2 uses a more robust method for the automatic re-encryption, which sometimes means you as the user have to tell AxCrypt to do it. You’ll see this by the “broom” icon becoming red. This indicates there’s something in need of “clean up”, i.e. re-encryption.
Still, you are facing any query, please provide detailed information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net. We are happy to help you.
Hello Romy,
I will explain Key sharing features.
AxCrypt has a key sharing feature letting you add recipients by email address, who when they receive the file can open it with their own AxCrypt password.
If they/he want to open the received encrypted file then we have to share the file password with them or the files should be key shared with receivers’ email addresses.
Key sharing embeds the shared key into the file. The file must thus first be key shared with the recipient, then sent or file shared. Please note that AxCrypt does not share or send the actual file. To see a quick instructional video explaining how to use key sharing, please view https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9z3KOZD-Yks .
Sharing a secured file is made directly from the AxCrypt software by choosing the secured file, click the share button and simply select the team member you want to share it to. The recipient just needs a free AxCrypt ID and will be automatically invited via email if necessary. The invitation email contains instructions on how to view and edit the file.
Still, you are facing any query, please provide detailed information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net. We are happy to help you.
Hello GARY,
AxCrypt 2.x use a single sign on model where the same password is used to sign in to our servers and to protect your files.
AxCrypt will use the AxCrypt account password to encrypt/decrypt the files. The account password is used/involved to encrypt the files with the AxCrypt app.
Please explain which version you have use AxCrypt 1.x or AxCrypt2.x?
Do you have reset or change the AxCrypt account password recently?
Please provide detailed information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net. We are happy to help you.
Hello Mahendra,
Please avoid sending a same query in different mediums. You may get duplicate response.
AxCrypt is a file encryption software and it requires a full write access to the path when encrypting/decrypting the files.
If the performing user account does not have the necessary access for the file path then AxCrypt app will throw the exception like what you are getting.
Please provide the necessary access(write access for the currently signed in user) to the file path and then try to encrypt/decrypt the files under the specified location.
For more information, please check out the link: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/2623670/access-denied-or-other-errors-when-you-access-or-work-with-files-and-f
Hello Scott,
We are already explain, please read our previous reply in the below link.https://forum.axcrypt.net/forums/topic/desktop-ini/#post-15595
Include Subfolders:
You can encrypt a folder by using Secured Folders option. After that if you create a subfolder, it won’t re-encrypt the files of subfolder.
We can include the sub-folder by enabling the feature from the AxCrypt app menu File | Options | Include Subfolders. By default Include Subfolders will be disabled. So Sub-folders are not encrypted without enabling this feature.
Hello Mahendra,
AxCrypt account and AxCrypt app are required to open/decrypt the AxCrypt encrypted files. without AxCrypt app we cannot decrypt the encrypted files.
Please install the AxCrypt app, sign in your AxCrypt account credentials then decrypt the all encrypted file(s)in your system. After that, uninstall(if need) the AxCrypt app. Now restart your system, AxCrypt app completely remove from your system.
Still, you are facing any query, please provide detailed information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net. We are happy to help you.
Hello Urs Gerhard,
AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.
Please note: AxCrypt is file encryption with no backdoor, that means AxCrypt do not store user’s account password, anywhere. Nobody can decrypt the encrypted files without the file password used in the file encryption. This is the way AxCrypt app was designed.
Unfortunately, if you do not know the password for an AxCrypt-encrypted file you cannot open it, even if you can sign in to the account. This is by design, it’s just this situation that AxCrypt is made for and it works like this even if you actually are the original owner of the file.
If you know some part of the password, then you can download and use the most recent version of AxBruteForce from https://account.axcrypt.net/Download/AxBruteForce.exe, to decrypt the files.
If you do not remember the password to your account, you can always reset it. This is not a way to recover encrypted files! It’s only to allow you to sign in to the AxCrypt app and web. The new password will be used to encrypt new files. Go to https://account.axcrypt.net/Home/PasswordReset to do this, or you can also go there from AxCrypt with File | Options | Password Reset.
For more info about Password Reset: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6whtjSb3pc and https://forum.axcrypt.net/blog/password-reset-axcrypt/ .
If the above does not help, please provide more information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net .
