    Hello Caroline Danda,

AxCrypt app full fill your requirement. AxCrypt is a user-mode and an independent app. You can encrypt the file(s) using the AxCrypt app. AxCrypt is a simple file encryption software with strong encryption. You can encrypt the local files and cloud files.

You can use AxCrypt to secure your files which are all stored in your cloud service like Google drive, one drive, Dropbox, etc..

AxCrypt Cloud Storage Awareness is really just about detecting installed cloud services, creating a “My AxCrypt” folder and then designating the created folder as ‘Secured’. However, the feature is really useful only when the folder is Secured, i.e. monitored for new files to encrypt.

After synchronizing your Google Drive files to your local, just encrypt those with the AxCrypt app. Once again sync your local with Google drive.

Please check out our video tutorials at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoSoXBjq6iCG5232fHoWStA and our other documentation at https://forum.axcrypt.net/information/get-started/ to get started with AxCrypt.

    Hello Sylvio,

Please avoid sending the same query in different mediums. You may get duplicate responses.

AxCrypt will keep track on the opened encrypted files, to update and re-encrypt the same. If we opened the file and updated the contents, then AxCrypt will re-encrypt the updated file.

So after editing the encrypted files, we have to click the broom icon or sign out from the AxCrypt app to re-encrypt the updated files. We have to close all the instance of the encrypted file(s) opened application.

And the AxCrypt app will be checking whether the opened file and the corresponding application are closed or not? If closed, then the AxCrypt app will automatically update the contents of the file and re-encrypt the same.

Actually, we have to close the file opened application completely, to update and re-encrypt the file. Sometimes, we have to manually click the red Broom icon, to clean and update the pending files.

Still, you are asking any issues, please provide more information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello Bernard MARTIN,

AxCrypt 1.x and 2.x are compatible in the sense that 2.x can open all files secured with 1.x.

If you open files encrypted with a different password than your sign in password, which often is the case directly after upgrading to version 2, you will be prompted for that original password. If the file was encrypted with version 1, it will then be automatically upgraded to version 2 and to use the new sign in password which means you won’t be prompted again for the old password.

If you think you almost know the password, we have simple software allowing you to try to find your password, and you can download the most recent version from https://account.axcrypt.net/Download/AxBruteForce.exe and read of how to use it at https://forum.axcrypt.net/axcrypt-brute-force/ . Please note that we cannot provide support beyond this.

If you do not remember the password to your account, you can always reset it. This is not a way to recover encrypted files! It’s only to allow you to sign in to the AxCrypt app and web.

    Hello Rob Acevedo,

You can install and login(with the same Subscription account) to the AxCrypt app with the n number of devices. But If you are the only person is going to use, then you can use it. Otherwise, you need to share your account password to all users who are all using the same account.

Sometimes this leads to security breach.

You can download the legacy versions(1.x) of AxCrypt from the following link, https://we.tl/t-tCM9JMMvWh. So Please click the link then download the older version of AxCrypt app.

Still, Are you looking for AxCrypt 1.x? This version is obsolete and not maintained – we don’t recommend using it. Please contact support@axcrypt.net for more information.

    Hello Izak van Langevelde,

The location(C:\Users\’user name’\AppData\Local\AxCrypt) is for the temporary decrypted copies of the files. Those will either be cleaned automatically at the earliest opportunity or when you click the red clean “broom” icon in AxCrypt.

AxCrypt works by decrypting files temporarily and then launching the appropriate application for the decrypted file, which thus is entirely unaware of AxCrypt. AxCrypt monitors the system for the launched app to exit, and when it detects this it will re-encrypt the file and wipe (overwrite) the decrypted file and then delete it.

I think still your files are not re-encrypted completed(not sure). please click the broom icon in the AxCrypt app when you encrypted the files.

Note: The temporary files will be removed as soon as the opened encrypted file closed/signed out from the AxCrypt app.

Still, you are asking any issues, please provide more information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello Vernon Stewart & Oshine,

AxCrypt is really detecting the files and secure your files in  OneDrive.

If the file in fact is located in a folder designated as “Secured”, it will soon be re-encrypted again since those folders are monitored for unencrypted files and will encrypt them when you sign out, or click the “Broom” clean up icon.

After synchronizing your  OneDrive files to your local, just encrypt those with the AxCrypt app. Once again sync your local with  OneDrive.

Still, you are asking any issues, please provide more information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello Jack C,

Already Svante answered the same forums link(https://forum.axcrypt.net/forums/topic/keyfile/). Please read the same.

We’ve decided not to implemented this feature, because it has caused some problems with very small benefits. You can choose to use a very good password instead – why not use a string similar to what’s in the keyfile for example? Exactly the same level of security.

The problem with keyfiles are that they need to be stored somewhere, and it’s very hard to ensure this is done properly.

    Hello ian hurst,

We have literally hundreds of thousands of users a succeed in signing in, both using the app and the web.

AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.

If the file was encrypted with a different password than your sign in password, then you have to enter the file password while viewing/decrypting the encrypted file.

While viewing the encrypted file (having different password than your sign in password), you have to enter the file password. If you enter the AxCrypt account password instead of file password, So you need to enter the file password.

For more info about Password Reset: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6whtjSb3pc and https://forum.axcrypt.net/blog/password-reset-axcrypt/

Unfortunately, if you do not know the password for an AxCrypt-encrypted file you cannot open it, even if you can sign in to the account. This is by design, it’s just this situation that AxCrypt is made for and it works like this even if you actually are the original owner of the file.

Still, you can open/decrypt the old encrypted files with the original file password(which was used in the file encryption process).

Still, you are asking any issues, please provide more information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello Serg,

AxCrypt performs as much as faster based on the user’s system configuration and the file size.

AxCrypt is only limited by available hard disk space. If you have enough space, then you can encrypt the full drive.

When encrypting bulk amounts of files or larger files, AxCrypt will take some more time to finish the encryption/decryption.

Still, you are asking any Query/issues, please provide more information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net.
