Hello Phil,
Windows 11 has a context menu and AxCrypt gets put on the Show More option (i.e., the old W10 menu). you can use from to always give the W10 Context menu where AxCrypt is placed.
Hello Phil,
To help figure this out, could you please let us know which AxCrypt version you’re running on Windows 11?
Kindly provide the above information along with relevant screenshots and send them to support@axcrypt.net for further assistance.
Hello Haggis,
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us — your concerns are completely understandable, and your feedback is genuinely appreciated.
Regarding the macOS version:
We have recently released the completely redesigned new macOS version, which replaces the older legacy version. This is why updates to the legacy macOS app have been limited. However, we are still monitoring the legacy version to ensure it continues to function as expected. We recommend using the new MAUI version for the best experience, improved compatibility, and ongoing support.
Regarding the credit-card requirement:
We understand your concerns. We will discuss this internally with our team and review whether the trial experience can be improved. We’ll get back to you with any updates.
Thank you again for your constructive feedback — it truly helps us improve.
Hello Jason,
Thank you for your valuable feedback and sorry to hear, the new user interface is not working as you expected.
We are following same v2 app user flow in the new app v3 as well. Instead of sign in dialogue, we have added a sign in page in the same window.
We will try to implement a new flow for background operations like opening, decrypting or encrypting files from the explorer window.
If you have any queries, please write to Support@axcrypt.net. We are happy to help you.

AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.
If the file was encrypted with a different password than your sign in password, then you have to enter the file password while viewing/decrypting the encrypted file.
While viewing the encrypted file (having different password than your sign in password), you have to enter the file password. If you enter the AxCrypt account password instead of file password, then you will get the alert message like “You are already logged/ signed in with this password! “. So you need to enter the file password.
For example:
Try to encrypt a file with your AxCrypt password and then reset your AxCrypt account password using Reset Password Feature. Now if you open the encrypted file, you will be prompted for enter the file password (which is used for encryption of the file).
The above situation was happened for you. So please try to remember your file password(which is used for encryption) then try to decrypt the encrypted file.
So kindly try to remember your file password(which is used for encryption) then try to decrypt the encrypted file.
If the above doesn’t help, please write an email to our support team at support@axcrypt.net.
November 20, 2025 at 06:17 in reply to: Icon no longer displayed on secured files – just blank file folder #49149Hello Tim O,
AxCrypt encrypted files should have a file extension “.axx”. Also, default application for the file type “.axx” should be AxCrypt app only.
If the AxCrypt app is not configured as a default app for the file extension or no other apps are mapped to the file extension.
Might be, the default application is not mapped for the file extension “.axx” in your system. So please change the default application to AxCrypt for the file extension for “.axx” with the help of following links,
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028161/windows-10-change-default-programs or https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/18539/windows-7-change-default-programs
Now all the encrypted files with the file extension ‘.axx’ will be opened by double clicking the file. Restart the system/AxCrypt app, if required.
If the above doesn’t help, please write an email to our support team at support@axcrypt.net.
Hello Manu,
Have you forget the password? — If you think you almost know the password, we have simple software allowing you to try to find your password, and you can download the most recent version from https://account.axcrypt.net/Download/AxBruteForce.exe and read of how to use it at https://www.axcrypt.net/axcrypt-brute-force/ . Please note that we cannot provide support beyond this.
AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.
If you do not remember the password to your account, you can always reset it. This is not a way to recover encrypted files! It’s only to allow you to sign in to the AxCrypt app and web. The new password will be used to encrypt new files. Go to https://account.axcrypt.net/Home/PasswordReset to do this, or you can also go there from AxCrypt with File | Options | Password Reset.
If the above doesn’t help, please write an email to our support team at support@axcrypt.net.

Hello Dan M,
If you try to open a file that was encrypted with a different password than your AxCrypt sign-in password, first sign in to the AxCrypt app.
After signing in, click the encrypted file to open it. When prompted, type the file’s password into the File Password dialog.
