    Hello Dan,

If you select the file and right-click to choose AxCrypt then selected the Encrypt option to encrypt the files, AxCrypt knows that it’s a file – so AxCrypt show the bold font.

If you select the folder and right-click to choose AxCrypt then selected the Encrypt option, AxCrypt does not know that it’s a folder, AxCrypt encrypts the folder inside the files only – so Axcrypt shows the normal font.

AxCrypt secures files, individually. However, you can designate folders as ‘secured’. The folders will be monitored for new files, and AxCrypt will secure all new files with a single click, or when you sign out.

If the above doesn’t help, please provide more information about the issue and some screenshots and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello Tom Brandeis,

When we encrypts a file, the AxCrypt app will create an exact duplicate copy of the encrypting file and then will the encrypt the same. Once the encryption completed, the original file will get secured deleted by the AxCrypt app.

AxCrypt used to take backup of each files when we are encrypting/decrypting and the backup will get securely deleted once the process completed successfully. So if the process was interrupted in between the process.

You can encrypt files/folder without any error(s) or corrupted. But you or any other system application(s) should not interrupt the AxCrypt app during Encryption/decryption process. If you or other third party applications will forcefully the stop the AxCrypt app during the process, then AxCrypt app will stop the process.

Still, you are facing any query, please provide detailed information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net. We are happy to help you.

    Hello Mach,

We do not offer the option to change the installation location. The reason is that too many users choose unsuitable locations, such as removable drives.

Sorry to say, AxCrypt doesn’t support the option to change the install location.

If you are asking any Query, please write us at support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello CH,

Currently, AxCrypt does not support automatic renames features.

We can hide the file names with random name, by using the Anonymous Rename feature. AxCrypt app having a feature called Anonymous Rename, This feature helps us to rename the selected encrypted files into random numbers(The original file name can’t be seen).

To rename the encrypted files to random: Use the menu option File | Anonymous Rename in the AxCrypt app and select the files. Now we can see the selected files renamed into random numbers.

We can also do the same from the windows explorer by select the folder or file(s) and choose the right click context menu options AxCrypt | Rename .

We can restore the renamed files into original name by decrypting those encrypted files or using the menu option File|Rename to Original in the AxCrypt app.

If you are asking any Query, please write us at support@axcrypt.net.

    Hello winoline,

Most often, this error occurs because the file is not produced by AxCrypt, but rather a different kind of file accidentally renamed to end with .axx. Another scenario is that it is a left-over after a previous decryption was interrupted at the stage where the original is overwritten.

If you mistakenly rename non-AxCrypt files to end with .axx, in which case renaming back to its appropriate extension will fix the issue since the file was never encrypted in the first place in this scenario.

Still, you are not able to decrypt the file, AxCrypt provides a feature called Try Broken File. You can decrypt the corrupted AxCrypt encrypted files by navigating the menu File | Options | enable Debug from the AxCrypt app.

Now you could see the Debug the menu in the AxCrypt app. From the debug menu choose Try Broken File.

Then you will be prompted for file selection. Select the corrupted encrypted file and then AxCrypt will try to decrypt the file. If successfully decrypted, then you can see the decrypted file in the file location.

Unfortunately, If the file is actually damaged to this extent, sorry to say, no, it can’t be fixed. The data is just not there to decrypt it.

If you still facing any issues please write us at support@axcrypt.net

    Hello ENGİN,

AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.

If you think you almost know the password, we have simple software allowing you to try to find your password, and you can download the most recent version from https://account.axcrypt.net/Download/AxBruteForce.exe and read of how to use it at https://www.axcrypt.net/axcrypt-brute-force/. Please note that we cannot provide support beyond this.

You always decrypt your files with a free subscription. If you know the password for the file(which is used in the file encryption). You can always decrypt the file using the AxCrypt app.

Still, if you facing any issues, Please provide more information about the issue and a screenshot. Also, please write an email to support@axcrypt.net.
