The Android version of AxCrypt currently does not facilitate bulk decryption of multiple files within a folder in a single operation. This is due to restricting additional app permissions. Each file must be decrypted individually through the app. Although, we understand that decrypting files one by one can be time-consuming, especially when handling multiple files. While this limitation is in place to maintain strong security controls and app permissions on mobile devices, we appreciate your feedback and will definitely put it for future consideration. In the meantime, for bulk operations, we recommend using the desktop version of AxCrypt, which offers more flexibility for managing multiple files at once.

If AxCrypt or your system was shut down forcibly or unexpectedly, the application may not have had sufficient time to complete all pending operations such as a cleanup which automatically encrypts the opened files. In such cases, upon restarting AxCrypt, you may be prompted to clean up and re-encrypt the saved files. Once the cleanup process is completed, the temporary files will be automatically removed.
In order to remove local temporary content:
- Open the AxCrypt application.
- Sign-in
- Navigate to File > Options > Clear All Settings & Restart from the menu
The new AxCrypt application currently in Beta phase allows you to configure the temporary file path directory. Download here, install and sign-in. Follow the steps: Settings > Advanced Settings > App Configuration to set up personalized temporary folder.

Frank, in order to better understand the issue that you have been facing, please send an email to support@axcrypt.net with your AxCrypt registered email address. If possible, please attach screenshots of the app.
Dugover,
Please note that AxCrypt on getting installed on your Android device will never consume space more than 80 MB. For me, it is just 72.84 MB to be specific. Request you to clear app data -> uninstall -> re-install. If you still face issues, kindly write to support@axcrypt.net through your registered email address and the support team will assist you.
Additionally, 7 GB is a lot of space, you can install a free antivirus for a quick check on your device.
@amora321, AxCrypt works on subscription basis. If you have an account with AxCrypt you can still decrypt your files even if you don’t have an active paid subscription. In case you are facing issues opening your old .axx files, please share the error reports with support@axcrypt.net from your registered email address and you will be guided through a possible solution. Remember, AxCrypt1 files are compatible with AxCrypt2, but not vice-versa. AxCrypt2 uses much enhanced AES-256 encryption algorithms for better security. I advice you to go with a Premium or Business subscription to achieve prime security for your personal data.
Boitinhyeu, sorry to say, but Currently AxCrypt mobile app does not have an inactivity sign-out feature. Although you get this feature on desktop version. The Inactivity Sign Out feature is part of the Premium plan. You can use our Inactivity Sign Out feature, to sign out the AxCrypt app on certain time interval of inactivity. Also you can sign out the AxCrypt app, when opened the encrypted file(s). Now AxCrypt will ask the user to enter the sign in password to sign in to the AxCrypt app. You will be notified once it is released in Mobile Apps too.
For Inactivity Sign Out on desktop apps, go to File | Options | Inactivity Sign Out | Choose duration in minutes.
June 17, 2025 at 08:37 in reply to: Please allow changing the temporary directory used for decrypting files #44753Could you please write to AxCrypt support team and help them understand the issue. Send your error snapshot and we will make sure the application does not crash for you. Although, AxCrypt monitors the system for the launched app to exit, and when it detects this it will re-encrypt the file and wipe (overwrite) the decrypted file and then delete it. You need to close all the instance of the opened application to re-encrypt the files and clear the local cache. Hence, the best practice is always to save all your work beforehand and leave no space for any exposure. Remember, your personal data security totally depends on how you treat it.
Cenat, Could you perhaps send a screen shot of the issue you have been facing with blocked access to support@axcrypt.net with your registered email address? If you have installed or knowingly blocking the access, I would suggest you to keep AxCrypt in the allow list.
This topic has already been answered above. Anyways, AxCrypt destroys the encryption keys once it gets locked out. Whenever you restart your/ sign out of AxCrypt or lock your desktop environment or put your computer to sleep/hibernate or your screensaver starts then AxCrypt clears your encryption keys. But, in case if you have decrypted a file for viewing or any update and forget to re-encrypt it before performing actions like hibernation, it may get exposed. It is better that you take care of decrypted files and encrypt them safely back.
Hope it answers your query “Anonymous”?
Thank you!
AxCrypt is very handy and user friendly indeed. It provides it’s users with a wide range of capabilities like this “Open With” feature. There are multiple ways just to securely encrypt a file, be it through the file browser’s right-click context menu or through the application itself. It’s easy to use.
Eggy Car, about passware kit or any other tool which follows the same brute force technique to figure out passwords as AxCrypt’s. Hence it is recommended to use your strongest password for encryption by using AxCrypt’s Password Generator. Save your passwords securely in AxCrypt’s Password manager. Hence, make it impossible for any attacker to gain unauthorized access to your personal and business data. Cracking a password in one way actually requires a little help from the forgotten password. Hence, tools for cracking passwords are only helpful to those who owns the password.
Richard Lenz,
We thank you and appreciate your patience. The Google Drive is supposedly to be working along with the beta version. We are continuously working on to meet all our customer’s requirements via feedbacks on the beta applications. Please note that this is fixed and will be released with the next version within a week again. Thanks!
May 26, 2025 at 11:00 in reply to: Please allow changing the temporary directory used for decrypting files #44101Hello,
Let me re-iterate. AxCrypt has added the ability to manually select the path to store the decrypted files. It has been added in the Beta version of new AxCrypt application which also comes with enhanced performance and better user interface. You can follow this link to download and start using : Link
The option to select this path comes under Settings -> Advanced Options
It is here where AxCrypt allows to select the path where it decrypts temporary files.
