Hi Cyril,
When I add a secured folder to the list how often does the app check to see if files are encrypted?
AxCrypt secures files, individually. However, you can designate folders as ‘secured’. The folders will be monitored for new files, and AxCrypt will secure all new files with a single click, or when you sign out.
You can also select multiple files, including all files in a folder, to be secured in a single operation. They still remain individual files, and the folder itself is not secured, just the files .
If you are added the new file in a secured folder, then you have to click the “Broom icon”. Then only your newly added file is encrypted.
When I Temporarily Decrypt a Secured Folder, when does Axcrypt re-encrypt the files in the folder and subfolder?
When you click the “Broom icon or Exit or Sign Out” the AxCrypt app, the Temporarily Decrypt a Secured Folder files are re-encrypted.
Hello Al Rose,
AxCrypt app performs as much as faster based on the user’s system configuration and the file size. When encrypting bulk amount of files or larger files, AxCrypt will take some more time to finish the encryption/decryption.
When we start the AxCrypt app, it will search for unencrypted files under the list of secured folders and encrypt the unencrypted files. In that time, AxCrypt might be take some extra time to complete the process.
We are going to start working on the App optimization issues. So users will get the optimized version of the AxCrypt app in near future
Hello Narendra Sahebrao Sathe,
AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.
If the file was encrypted with a different password than your sign in password, then you have to enter the file password while viewing/decrypting the encrypted file.
While viewing the encrypted file (having different password than your sign in password), you have to enter the file password. If you enter the AxCrypt account password instead of file password, So you need to enter the file password.
If you think you almost know the password, we have simple software allowing you to try to find your password, and you can download the most recent version from https://account.axcrypt.net/Download/AxBruteForce.exe and read of how to use it at https://forum.axcrypt.net/axcrypt-brute-force/ . Please note that we cannot provide support beyond this.
Unfortunately, if you do not know the password for an AxCrypt-encrypted file you cannot open it, even if you can sign in to the account. This is by design, it’s just this situation that AxCrypt is made for and it works like this even if you actually are the original owner of the file.
Hi Maureen Diaz,
AxCrypt Mobile apps can able to view the encrypted files which all are encrypted by the AxCrypt desktop version.
How to open the encrypted file in mobile app?
Just click the AxCrypt encrypted file from your cloud service(Dropbox, one drive etc.,), local storage. AxCrypt mobile app will opens up and prompting to enter the AxCrypt account password.
After that your encrypted file will be opened/viewed by corresponding application.
Or Login to the AxCrypt mobile app and click the plus(+) icon and then select the file from local folder.
That’s all. This is the way to open the encrypted file from Local folder.
Note : If we tried to decrypt/encrypt the files which are synched with the cloud storage services(like onedrive and etc), then the cloud service provider/application will need internet to sync the file(s) between your system and the cloud service. So that time we need internet to synch the files.
I hope, your problem will get resolved. If not, please write the email to support@axcrypt.net with detailed information.

Both the Password reset and change are not the same. Please read the different between Password reset and change in our blog, https://forum.axcrypt.net/blog/password-reset-axcrypt/.
A final note: Password reset is not a way to recover encrypted files! It’s only to allow you to sign in to the AxCrypt app and web.
Hi Frank,
You can send the encrypted file securely with others using AxCrypt key sharing feature.
You can use the AxCrypt key sharing feature to encrypt your file(s), then key shares the file with other recipients, If they want to open the received encrypted file then we have to share the file password with them or the files should be key shared with receivers’ email addresses. AxCrypt application and account is mandatory is decrypt the encrypted files.
You can send the encrypted file via email(Gmail, yahoo, etc..) to other users.
I will explain about the key sharing features:
There is no need to share passwords in order to send or share files securely with others.
AxCrypt has a key sharing feature letting you add recipients by email address, who when they receive the file can open it with their own AxCrypt password.
Key sharing embeds the shared key into the file. The file must thus first be key shared with the recipient, then sent or file shared. Please note that AxCrypt does not share or send the actual file. To see a quick instructional video explaining how to use key sharing, please view https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9z3KOZD-Yks .
Sharing a secured file is made directly from the AxCrypt software by choosing the secured file, click the share button and simply select the team member you want to share it to. The recipient just needs a free AxCrypt ID and will be automatically invited via email if necessary. The invitation email contains instructions on how to view and edit the file.
Please check out our video tutorials at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoSoXBjq6iCG5232fHoWStA and our other documentation at https://forum.axcrypt.net/information/get-started/ to get started with AxCrypt.
Happy AxCrypting…Have a Nice Day..)
Hi noone,
AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.
If the file was encrypted with a different password than your sign in password, then you have to enter the file password while viewing/decrypting the encrypted file.
For example: Try to encrypt a file with your AxCrypt password and then reset your AxCrypt account password using Reset Password Feature. Now if you open the encrypted file, you will be prompted for enter the file password (which is used for encryption of the file).
Please note: AxCrypt is a file encryption software with no backdoor, That means (we do not store the account password anywhere in our servers). Nobody can decrypt the encrypted files without the file password used in the file encryption. This is the way AxCrypt app was designed.

February 14, 2020 at 09:18 in reply to: To identify encrypted folders can they change in appearance as files do? #15366Hi Smith,
Thanks for your suggestion.
AxCrypt is a file encryption software not a drive encryption software.
AxCrypt will encrypt the folder inside files only. It does not encrypt the folder itself. That’s why the folder appearance is not looks like a file.

February 14, 2020 at 08:08 in reply to: meu arquivo não abre, informa que o arquivo não é ao axcript, o que fazer? #15365Hi Ricardo,
I am sorry to hear this.
This might be happened, because of you are trying to open/decrypt the AxCrypt secure deleted files. Those files will not be recoverable.
Most often, this error occurs because the file is not produced by AxCrypt. It can also happen when users mistakenly rename non-AxCrypt files to end with .axx, in which case renaming back to it’s appropriate extension will fix the issue since the file was never encrypted in the first place in this scenario.
Another scenario is that it is a left-over after a previous decryption was interrupted at the stage where the original is overwritten. The most common reason for this happening is that the file was damaged because of early removal of a USB drive, or a disconnected network drive.
If the file is actually damaged to this extent, no, it can’t be fixed. The data is just not there to decrypt it.
But we have a feature called Try Broken File. You can able to decrypt the corrupted AxCrypt encrypted files by navigating the menu File | Options | enable Debug from the AxCrypt app.
Now you can able to see the Debug the menu in the AxCrypt app. From the debug menu you have to select Try Broken File.
Now you will be prompted for file selection. Select the corrupted encrypted file and then AxCrypt will try to decrypt the file. If successfully decrypted, then you are able to see the decrypted file in the location. Otherwise sorry to say, AxCrypt can’t decrypt that file.
Still, you are asking any issues, please provide more information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net.

Hello Ben Larson, O.D,
Please avoid sending a same query in different mediums. You may get duplicate response.
Sorry to say, we don’t understand your query. Please explain more details.
Do you want to change the AxCrypt account email address? If yes,
To change the account email, sign in to https://account.axcrypt.net/en/Home/Login and then under Settings | Email, set the new email.
There must not already be such an account. If there is, please delete it first.
Or Do you want to sign in AxCrypt app with different email address? If yes,
Just clear all the AxCrypt app local cache files via File | Options | Clear All Settings & Restart or clicking the Reset button in the sign in dialog. Then the AxCrypt app will get restarted like a new app installation. Now provide your AxCrypt account credentials to sign in with the AxCrypt app.
If the above does not help, please provide detailed information about the issue and write the email to support@axcrypt.net
Hello Henry Liao,

After doing try broken file also, you are getting the same exception, then the file might be corrupted. Sorry to say, you can’t decrypt the same.
Hello Alan,
AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.
If the file was encrypted with a different password than your sign in password, then you have to enter the file password while viewing/decrypting the encrypted file. You can open all the encrypted files if you know the file password which was used in the encryption process.
But still your AxCrypt app is sign out mode only.
If you want to encrypt the new file, you need to sign in your AxCrypt account.
So, Please use your latest password(Which password are allowed to log in with your AxCrypt account on the website) to sign in with the AxCrypt app without any issues.
Still, you are facing any issue, please provide more information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net .
