AxCrypt encrypts individual files, creating .axx files that require the AxCrypt Crazy Cattle 3D software and your password to decrypt. These are distinct from system-level encryption.

Sometimes, the quordle icons might not update immediately. You can refresh File Explorer by pressing F5 or closing and reopening it.

I’ve experienced similar frustrations with files re-encrypting themselves after manual decryption, even when they weren’t supposed to be part of the ‘secured folders.’ It’s incredibly disruptive to workflow. Judy, your point about this issue persisting for over a year is concerning. Has anyone found a reliable way to stop AxCrypt from re-encrypting files outside the designated secured folders, or is the ‘Decrypt Permanently’ option truly the only way, even for files that were never intentionally encrypted by the user?

    Hello Basketball bros,

AxCrypt only encrypts back temporarily decrypted files on signing out or closing the application. It also enables a “broom” so called a clean-up icon which suggests that some encrypted files are opened and not re-encrypted back. If you want these open files to re-encrypt, please make sure that the file is saved and closed and also that the application in which it opened is closed. In case if you don’t want your files to be in safe encrypted format, you may choose to permanently decrypt it.
