Thank you. Can you please check for the file %localappdata%\AxCrypt\ReportSnapshot.txt and post that as well?
Svante
Hello Rico,
This is very bad indeed. First of all, please update to 2.1. 1444 (if that in fact was not what do have).
I’m not quite sure what happened here. You’re saying that you renamed a file within the decrypted zip, and then “all the files disappeared” – from where? The zip?
I’ll have to try to recreate this. Follow the progress here: https://bitbucket.org/axantum/axcrypt-net/issues/189/zip-file-emptied-during-rename-of .
Hello Jason,
Oh, yes – there’s interest. But I’ve personally been away for a vacation with no Internet ;-)
Anyway, the difference between 1.7.3156 and 1.7.3180 are zero as far as actual function is concerned. The big difference is the removal of the OpenCandy advertising wrapper. It’s a 100% clean installer now. Also, it’s a recompile with the current tooling.
I’m not sure why version 2 is not suitable for you though, can you tell us more about that?
Svante
Hello George,
Select all the files you want to decrypt (or the entire folder), and then select AxCrypt | Decrypt .
If the folder is designated as a “Secured Folder”, you can re-encrypt them all with a single click to the red “Broom” icon in the main window.

Hello Colin,
For your use case AxCrypt 2 is really a good choice!
What you do, instead of encrypting a copy, is to encrypt the file in question, and then use the key sharing functionality to share the key with the recipient. Just enter the recipients e-mail address, and then send the file itself to the recipient as usual.
Once the recipient has downloaded AxCrypt and created an account, he or she will be able to open the file with their own password. No more keeping track of lots of passwords, or figuring out a secure side channel to send the shared password over.

Hello Carl,
There seems to be something wrong here… Of course you should not be asked for a new email every time. Can you send a screen shot of the situation?
Svante
Hello Tobbyhush!
Thanks for your input.
The problem about showing progress is a complicated one, partially because we do things in paralell, so there’s often more than one file being processed at a time. Even so it can be improved, and we will.
Your resource question concerns me. What version are you using? Can you send a screen shot of the main window when it is in this situation?
Svante
Hello Imran,
Can you send a screen shot please? It’s not clear just where you are stumped.
Can you sign in to your account at https://account.axcrypt.net/ ?
Svante
Hello Andrew,
To be honest – I have no idea ;-) But, can you please send a screen shot and perhaps things will become clearer?
We do not have any such message as far as I know.
Regards,
Svante
Hello Japhi,
Can you please provide more information, such as a screen shot?
Svante
Hello Remo!
Sorry, we have opted not to add recursive folder encryption, due to problems caused by users not understanding the concequences.
We’re considering how to support this without endangering less skilled users.

Hello Christo,
We’re planning to release iOS and Android apps at the end of the year.

Hello ritu,
That typically means a crash in .NET, but can you check out %localappdata%\AxCrypt and see if there’s a file named ‘ReportSnapshot.txt’ there. If so, can you post it / send it (if there’s anything in there that you object to posting).
Svante
Hello DeniG,
Oops – that’s wrong of course. If that’s what happens. We’re doing some higher priority stuff right now so I can’t verfiy, but I’ve added an issue so we won’t forget to check it out: https://bitbucket.org/axantum/axcrypt-net/issues/188/shred-and-delete-should-only-warn-once .
Svate
Hello DeniG,
Currently ‘shred and delete’ remains a premium feature.
We’ll consider add a “Do not show this any more” check box to the warning. Please note that this mimics the way Windows works when you delete files permanently. You’ll always get the warning then.
