I am sorry to hear this, although it’s not the same problem as before. The previous issue resolved itself somehow, you said.
This is an obviously corrupted file if it is zero length. Can you perhaps send a screen shot of the file listing in Windows Explorer to our support?

The reason we don’t (yet) have offline registration is simply lack of time and development resources. With yesterdays release we did take a major step in that direction, since we now have properly digitally signed subscription licenses, which makes it technically feasible to have offline validation. Now we just have to develop the function itself, but although fairly high priority, we have many other things to do first. Such as actually releasing the Mac OS X version!

Yes, I think AxCrypt will work fine for your use-case. You encrypt all the files once, and them decrypt them on-demand whenever you need to. If the hard disk is lost or stolen, no-one can see the actual content of the encrypted files.

Encrypting or decrypting 800Gb of data will indeed take significant amounts of time. If your situation is that you need to decrypt all of it when using it, and then re-encrypt all of when done and this needs to be done every time that you do something, then AxCrypt may not be the best solution for you.
AxCrypt works best with individual files that are used independently of each other.

The key sharing function embeds the shared key into the file. The file must thus first be key shared with the recipient, then sent or file shared. You can use the Premium trial to ensure that the software works as expected. If you run out of the trial, please contact us and ask for an extension.

Because “Lavasoft Web Companion” has caused so many problems for our users (as well as for other manufacturers), we have put a special check in our code for this. What we do is we look for a file named %windir%\System32\LavasoftTcpService64.dll .
You need to get rid of it, if you have it. Google for something like “uninstall lavasoft web companion” without the quotes.

It was considered, but for what it’s worth we decided on the fixed intervals to start with. We may well change this of course, depending on input.
The reason it’s not yet released is that we’re still testing and validating some scenarios where automatic sign out causes non-intuitive behavior, and in one case even loss of updates. We’re working on it, but it’s vacation time and we’re not fully staffed right now.

The Inactivity Sign Out feature is part of the Premium package but we have not released it just yet (the source repo is a little ahead of the released versions while we work and verify), but of course since the Windows version is open source under GPL you can do what you did.
Once it’s released it’ll be directly available with the official code signed version from us, with Premium.

Right now – the mobile apps require Premium, and for that reason we immediately start the Premium trial when you first use a mobile app.
We’re planning to add full encryption capabilities to the mobile apps later this year, and then we will indeed have a free viewer mode, just like we do with the new Mac OS X version we recently released for beta testing.

It sounds very strange what you’re describing, since the default really is to stay signed in. Can you perhaps verify if you actually are signed in when you’re being prompted again? This may sound like a silly question, but are you sure that it’s AxCrypt asking for your password?

With the current 2.1.1509 build, you should be automatically signed out when the computer goes to sleep, or the screen saver goes active, or of course if you sign out or actually exit AxCrypt.

Once we have implemented encryption on the mobile platforms, we’ll have a free Viewer mode available (equivalent to todays apps) – much like the Mac OS X version will work, for which we just released a beta. So right now we don’t have any plans for a one-off purchase for the apps, but they would become free to view encrypted file.
We’ll also be implementing offline licenses in the not-too far distant future. We’ve just implemented (but not yet released) the basic technology required, which is digitally signing the subscription terms.

Thanks for your input. No, you’re not the only ones with this view. On the other hand we have also quite a few who initially say this, but then come back after a little time and say they now realize how much better the AxCrypt 2 way is ;-)
