Hello Jason,
Thanks for your input!
Well, no, files are not automatically decrypted when you log in to Windows. However, if you are sharing a PC with a single account, then it’s simply not a very suitable environment to keep any kind of secrets.
Is it really a requirement to share the same account? It’s such a bad idea in so many ways…
Also, using different passwords for different files is seldom an optimal strategy. I wrote a blog post that discusses this, http://www.axcrypt.net/blog/use-of-different-passwords/ .

Svante
Hello Robert,
This is essentially correct. AxCrypt 1 disallows many such characters. If you look carefully when you enter the password in v1 you’ll see it is in fact not accepted. There should even be a ‘beep’.
We’ll change it so v2 will try v1 files with v1 illegal chars filtered out as well.

Hello Greg,
We’re likely to implement recursion along with some other advanced options to cater to differing needs.
Recursion as such is almost trivial, it’s the user interface to view and enable disable that’s the challenge.
We will likely collect all ‘dangerous’ nonstandard options into a single dialog and then require password verification to change.

Tahnk you, unfortunately it did not help, since only old exceptions were there.
What version of AxCrypt are you running?
Just how far do you get? Do you get to sign in?
Thank you. Can you please check for the file %localappdata%\AxCrypt\ReportSnapshot.txt and post that as well?

Hello Rico,
This is very bad indeed. First of all, please update to 2.1. 1444 (if that in fact was not what do have).
I’m not quite sure what happened here. You’re saying that you renamed a file within the decrypted zip, and then “all the files disappeared” – from where? The zip?
I’ll have to try to recreate this. Follow the progress here: https://bitbucket.org/axantum/axcrypt-net/issues/189/zip-file-emptied-during-rename-of .
Hello Jason,
Oh, yes – there’s interest. But I’ve personally been away for a vacation with no Internet ;-)
Anyway, the difference between 1.7.3156 and 1.7.3180 are zero as far as actual function is concerned. The big difference is the removal of the OpenCandy advertising wrapper. It’s a 100% clean installer now. Also, it’s a recompile with the current tooling.
I’m not sure why version 2 is not suitable for you though, can you tell us more about that?

Hello George,
Select all the files you want to decrypt (or the entire folder), and then select AxCrypt | Decrypt .
If the folder is designated as a “Secured Folder”, you can re-encrypt them all with a single click to the red “Broom” icon in the main window.

Hello Colin,
For your use case AxCrypt 2 is really a good choice!
What you do, instead of encrypting a copy, is to encrypt the file in question, and then use the key sharing functionality to share the key with the recipient. Just enter the recipients e-mail address, and then send the file itself to the recipient as usual.
Once the recipient has downloaded AxCrypt and created an account, he or she will be able to open the file with their own password. No more keeping track of lots of passwords, or figuring out a secure side channel to send the shared password over.

Hello Carl,
There seems to be something wrong here… Of course you should not be asked for a new email every time. Can you send a screen shot of the situation?
Svante
Hello Tobbyhush!
Thanks for your input.
The problem about showing progress is a complicated one, partially because we do things in paralell, so there’s often more than one file being processed at a time. Even so it can be improved, and we will.
Your resource question concerns me. What version are you using? Can you send a screen shot of the main window when it is in this situation?
Svante
Hello Imran,
Can you send a screen shot please? It’s not clear just where you are stumped.
Can you sign in to your account at https://account.axcrypt.net/ ?
Svante
Hello Andrew,
To be honest – I have no idea ;-) But, can you please send a screen shot and perhaps things will become clearer?
We do not have any such message as far as I know.

Svante
Hello Japhi,
Can you please provide more information, such as a screen shot?
Svante
Hello Remo!
Sorry, we have opted not to add recursive folder encryption, due to problems caused by users not understanding the concequences.
We’re considering how to support this without endangering less skilled users.
