Hi there. I lost my password and now I only remember half of it. I am trying AxCrypt Bruteforce and it doesn’t work.
Can you help me?
I am using the trial version of Axcrypt and I am not registered.August 12, 2019 at 07:22 #14178
AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption.
Please note: AxCrypt is file encryption with no backdoor, that means AxCrypt do not store user’s account password, anywhere. Nobody can decrypt the encrypted files without the file password used in the file encryption. This is the way AxCrypt app was designed.
If you know some part of the password, then you can download and use the most recent version of AxBruteForce from https://account.axcrypt.net/Download/AxBruteForce.exe , to decrypt the files.
If you do not remember the password to your account, you can always reset it. This is not a way to recover encrypted files! It’s only to allow you to sign in to the AxCrypt app and web. The new password will be used to encrypt new files. Go to https://account.axcrypt.net/Home/PasswordReset to do this, or you can also go there from AxCrypt with File | Options | Password Reset.
For more info about Password Reset: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6whtjSb3pc and https://forum.axcrypt.net/blog/password-reset-axcrypt/ .

so i guess i’m S.O.L for my encrypted files i lost the keyfile for, because the keyfile was 60,000+ characters long…April 13, 2020 at 14:28 #15710
You can use the key file(which was used to encrypt a file) to decrypt the encrypted files.
Unfortunately, If you do not have the key file, sorry to say, you can’t decrypt the encrypted files which are all encrypted with the key file. That’s the way AxCrypt is designed.
Still, you are facing any issue, please provide detailed information about the issue and write a mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. We are happy to help you.April 13, 2020 at 14:49 #15711
well its been years since iv been able to access the files but iv got half of the file of it tho i don’t think it would really help since i split the actual file up into an 2 pieces with winrar and put them on separate usb’s
if i ever find the 2nd usb it’l solve my problem but i guess there’s not really a quick fix for my situationJune 4, 2020 at 04:00 #16097
Trying to decrypt files from over 7 years ago. I remember parts of the password because I haven’t deviated from my password convention too much. Trying to run the tool in Windows 10. Does this tool still work?
Getting runtime error.

Please explain which AxCrypt version do you have used? If you are using the old version, please use the latest version AxCrypt app and try to decrypt the file again.
Please check your operating system has any pending updates. If any, please update.
Also please check whether your operating system has dot net framework 4.5 or above? If not please install the same. You can download the dot net framework here, https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30653 .
Then uninstall the AxCrypt app and install the latest version of the AxCrypt app. You can download the same from our official website: https://forum.axcrypt.net/download/ . Now install the AxCrypt app and try to start AxCrypting……January 14, 2021 at 12:50 #18952
