Rob WhittleseyI keep getting errors that AxCrypt cannot encrypt certain filetypes like thumbnail.db or something.lnk or website.url. Is there a way of exluding these filetypes?
Hello Rob,
AxCrypt can encrypt most of the file types. Also some file types AxCrypt will not encrypt due to security reasons.
You can encrypted the image file with AxCrypt app. But AxCrypt app do not encrypted thumbnails files.
AxCrypt will not encrypt any system, hidden files and operating system installed drives/folder. So please avoid securing that kind of folders.
Because AxCrypt encrypted files will have a special file extension .axx and those will be opened only with the AxCrypt app.
If the above does not help, please provide more information about the issue and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net . you can send a screenshot showing where the problem is, it often helps us understand.
Rob WhittleseyI understand that AxCrypt will not encrypt any system files. My problem is that it displays a pop-up showing that it won’t encrypt it. Last week I pressed the Sweep icon to encrypt everything in my watch folders which have a lot of image folders, links and URL’s and spent a couple of hours clicking on these annoying pop-ups!
I know you can hide the warning, but I would like the warning to appear if there is a genuine problem with a file.
So my original question remains, is there a way to stop AxCrypt from even attempting to encrypt certain filetypes?
For example an “exclusion list”, for example add *.url to exclude all the URL filetypes.
torture game 2I am also investigating this issue. Very great article. Thank you!

Hello Rob,
Sorry to say, there is no way to stop AxCrypt from even attempting to encrypt certain filetypes except stop encrypting those file types.
Instead, we can skip the particular type of warning popups by clicking the Do not show again check box in the warning dialog. If we ticked the checkbox, then we will not get the same type of warning alerts again. Still, you might get some other types of warning alerts based on the files or some other reasons.
Patrick YeungDear Sir,
I have opened 2 Axcrypt accounts with two different sign in passwords. How to merge this two accounts into one.
Thank you.
Patrick
Hello Patrick,
There is no possibility to merge the two AxCrypt accounts into one.
You can achieve the same by deleting one AxCrypt account. To delete your account, Please sign in at https://account.axcrypt.net/Home/Login and do so using the ‘Delete AxCrypt ID’ function under ‘Settings’. Be sure to decrypt any encrypted documents before doing so.
After deleting the account, use the another AxCrypt account to do AxCrypting.
Still you can open/decrypt the deleted AxCrypt account encrypted files with the file password.
AxCrypt will allow the users to decrypt the encrypted file with the original password which is used for encryption. If the file was encrypted with a different password than your sign in password, then you have to enter the file password while viewing/decrypting the encrypted file.
Once opened the file password asked files, Just update the contents of the files. Now those files will be encrypted with your account password. Hereinafter AxCrypt will not ask the file password for the updated files(which are all asked file password).

aytona55Thank You So Much For providing the important information.
Coby BrianAxCrypt typically encrypts most file types, but certain system-generated files like thumbnail.db or shortcuts like .lnk or .url may throw errors. Unfortunately, AxCrypt doesn’t offer direct exclusion options. However, you can manually exclude these files by moving them to a separate folder before encrypting. Consider sorting them out to ensure smooth encryption. Mark AngeloYou might want to check AxCrypt’s settings for file exclusions. It’s similar to how the rice purity test assesses experiences—sometimes it’s best to filter out what doesn’t fit your criteria!
