    Hello:

I have used AxCrypt for many years.  I got a new computer and realized that you guys are now charging to use the encryption level service.  I downloaded your basic software on the new computer so I could at least open my files until I decide what to do, but I am getting an error message that does not make sense.

For example, I have .pdf files that are labeled something like  6-20-22-pdf.axx  and I get an error message saying that it “has the wrong file name extension.  It must be .axx!”   But it is an .axx extension.  The pdf was changed to an .axx extension when I encrypted it on my previous computer.

    Please help ASAP, thank you!

    Hello

Please check the proper file extension. Then open the encrypted file without any issue.

AxCrypt app encrypt file(s) with the .axx extension. AxCrypt encrypted files have their own file structure and AxCrypt app only can interpret and open those file(s). That’s the way AxCrypt was designed. Other than .axx extension files, can’t be opened by the AxCrypt app. No other application(s) can open the AxCrypt encrypted files.

Still, if you are facing any Query/issues, please provide more information about the issue and screenshots and write a mail to support@axcrypt.net.

It sounds like the AxCrypt software might not recognize the file extension correctly, but to be sure, could you confirm a few details?

Did you transfer the files directly from your old computer, or were they saved on a cloud service or external drive?

You can try uninstalling AxCrypt and reinstalling the latest software geometry dash meltdown from AxCrypt’s homepage to make sure the software is not corrupted.

I’ve been using AxCrypt since it was simple and free, so seeing them start charging for features that were previously available is disappointing. Not being able to open .axx files, even with the That’s Not My Neighbor correct extension, suggests that the software is changing its policies or having a problem with handling them – which undermines the trust of loyal users.

@amora321, AxCrypt works on subscription basis. If you have an account with AxCrypt you can still decrypt your files even if you don’t have an active paid subscription. In case you are facing issues opening your old .axx files, please share the error reports with support@axcrypt.net from your registered email address and you will be guided through a possible solution. Remember, AxCrypt1 files are compatible with AxCrypt2, but not vice-versa. AxCrypt2 uses much enhanced AES-256 encryption algorithms for better security. I advice you to go with a Premium or Business subscription to achieve prime security for your personal data.
