Encrypted a copy, still see orginal

Two questions.

I opened the Axcrypt dialogue, drag in a .jpg picture from Explorer and I’m guessing it gets encrypted.  However, I still can see the original picture in Explorer.  Am I supposed to delete the original picture?

If I right click a picture in Explorer and scroll to Axcrypt, then it becomes a Word .axx file and stays in that folder, is that correct?

The tutorials are really lacking in details.

Hello David,

I will explain below how AxCrypt works.

we are checking with our local environment, AxCrypt app working fine without any issue.

AxCrypt works by decrypting files temporarily and then launching the appropriate application for the decrypted file, which thus is entirely unaware of AxCrypt. AxCrypt monitors the system for the launched app to exit, and when it detects this it will re-encrypt the file and wipe (overwrite) the decrypted file and then delete it.

Note: The temporary files will be removed as soon as the opened encrypted file closed/signed out from the AxCrypt app

AxCrypt encrypted files should have a file extension “.axx”. Also, default application for the file type “.axx” should be AxCrypt app only.

Might be, the default application is not mapped for the file extension “.axx” in your system. So please change the default application to AxCrypt for the file extension for “.axx” with the help of following links,

Now all the encrypted files with the file extension ‘.axx’ will be opened  by double clicking the file. Restart the system/AxCrypt app, if required.
